CHANDIGARH,, 23.01.25-PGIMER, Chandigarh in collaboration with Rotary Club Chandigarh Central and International college of Dentist (ICD) organized a unique free health camp for Chronic Low Back Pain and Oral and Breast Cancer at Public Health dispensary Sector 25 (UAAM-25), Chandigarh on 23.01.25.
Dr. Babita Ghai, Professor and Consultant In-Charge of the Pain Clinic, Department of Anaesthesia along with deptt. of community medicine PGIMER, is leading a ground-breaking research project evaluating the role of Yoga Therapy as a sustainable intervention for improving pain symptoms and associated disabilities in chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) patients. This project, the first of its kind in India, is funded under the DST SATYAM. The project examines the long-term impact of yoga on physical and mental health, quality of life, and pain biomarkers in CLBP patients. As part of this initiative, daily yoga or physical exercise classes will be conducted for two weeks by trained yoga therapists at the Sector 25 Public Health Dispensary, starting January 27, 2025.
Department of community medicine and Pain clinic, Deptt of Anaesthesia PGIMER in collaboration with Rotary Club Chandigarh Central and ICD organized a unique health camp for free screening, awareness of CLBP patients, oral and Breast Cancer under the able guidance of Prof Arun Aggarwal, HOD community medicine. CLBP patients were screened and recruited by a dedicated team led by Prof. Babita Ghai, in collaboration with Dr. Kapil Goel, Faculty In-Charge of UAAM-25, and Junior Residents Dr. Nivedita and Dr. Aastha from the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health. The project team of DST SATYAM, BSc Nursing students, and the dispensary staff, including Medical Officer Dr. Sunny Mehta, MPW Mr. Kamal, and ANM Mrs. Sunita, played vital roles in the camp’s success.
