Chandigarh, March 8:Continuing its endeavor to upscale the teaching skills of the teachers and principals of government schools, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday flagged off the seventh batch of 36 Principals to get training at Principal’s Academy, Singapore from March 9-15.

Interacting with the media persons, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, said that it is a red letter day in the history of the state as this will go a long way in imparting quality education to the students. He said that the well trained staff has helped in enhancing the rate of admissions in the government schools of the state adding that Punjab is witnessing education revolution across the state as the state government has laid major thrust on it. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that now the teachers and Principals are focusing only on education as for all the rest of work, the required staff has been recruited by the state government.

The Chief Minister said that on the International women’s day it is heartening to know that most of the Principals going abroad today are women. He said that knowledge sharing will help in acquainting the teachers and principals about the best learning practices across the globe. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the expertise of the Principals will help in grooming the students of government schools well thereby enabling them to be an active partner in socio-economic progress of the state.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that the students will learn a lot from the upgraded skill of these Principals thereby ensuring that they are able to compete well with their convent educated peers. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that these Principals would share their expertise with the students and their colleagues thereby giving much needed impetus to the education sector. He said that Education forms the backbone of any society and in Punjab, the state government been striving to continuously improve the education system

The Chief Minister said that in order to make students of middle, secondary and high secondary schools aware against the drug menace the senior officers of districts have been asked to visit the schools. He said that PTMs being organized in the government schools are also helping in making parents and teachers aware about the learning of the students. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that these steps will help in eradicating the menace of drugs from the state for which no stone is left unturned.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister extended good wishes to the Indian cricket team for the upcoming final match of Champions Trophy slated to be held tomorrow. He said that the Indian players had exhibited remarkable game during the entire tournament adding that it is a moment of pride and satisfaction for every countryman as the players have steered the team to this historic moment. Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed hope that the team India will script a new success story by lifting the Champion’s Cup Trophy in the match on Sunday.

Unceremonious removal of Jathedars part of revenge plan of Akalis: CM

TERMS IT AS UNFORTUNATE

QUIPS THAT EXPIRED INTERIM COMMITTEE HAS NO RIGHT TO REMOVE THE JATHEDARS

Chandigarh, March 8:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday slammed the Akali leadership for taking revenge from the Jathedars by unceremonious removing them.

On a query, the Chief Minister said that unceremonious removal of Jatehdar sahib is unfortunate as now the politics is choosing the religious leaders. He said that the Akalis had indulged in theatrics by apologising for the sins committed by them in full public glare at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. However, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that after the Jathedars pronounced Akali leadership guilty of their unpardonable sins, since then they are being targeted.

The Chief Minister said that out of vengeance the Akali leadership is removing the Jathedars which is unwarranted and undesirable. He said that this has bruised the psyche of entire Sikh community and they will never forgive them. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this trend of picking and removing the Jathedar Sahib from the pocket of these ‘rejected leaders’ reflects the sorry state of affairs.

The Chief Minister said that Jathedars are highly revered by the entire Sikh Community and this type of behavior with them is unwarranted and undesirable. He said that ironically the validity of the interim committee which has removed the Jathedars has already expired around a decade ago as SGPC polls have not been held for a long time. Bhagwant Singh Mann urged the Government of India to immediately conduct the elections so that the Gurdawaras of the state can be freed from the modern day Mahants.

PUNJAB BECOMES FIRST STATE TO SEND MORE THAN 300 TEACHERS/ PRINCIPALS ABROAD FOR TRAINING TO BENEFIT STUDENTS OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

MORE THAN 500 TEACHERS IMPARTED TRAINING INTERNATIONALLY AND NATIONALLY

Chandigarh, March 8:In a first the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has set a new benchmark by imparting world class training to 306 Principals and teachers abroad for the sole motive of imparting quality training to the students in government schools.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, on Saturday flagged off the seventh batch of 36 Principals for training at Principals Academy, Singapore from March 9-15. Prior to this Punjab has sent six batches of 198 principals/education officers for a five day Leadership Development Programme to Singapore and 72 Primary Cadre Teachers to Turku, Finland. Apart from it three batches of 152 Headmaster/education officers were sent to IIM Ahmedabad.

During the training these teachers are equipped with modern teaching practices prevalent abroad and after their return these teachers share the practices with students and their colleagues thereby ensuring that students get acquainted with the pattern of study on foreign shores. This is a path breaking initiative which is rejuvenating the entire education system of state for the well being of students with these teachers actually acting as agents of change in the education sector in the prevalent times by ensuring quality education to students. This out of box idea is bringing the much needed qualitative change in the education system of the state by benefitting the students.

This is in consonance with the vision of the Chief Minister who believes that the competence and ability of teachers and school heads directly reflect on the quality of learning of their students and performance of their schools. In this backdrop, the concept of exposure visits of school teachers and school heads to a foreign nation has created a systemic impact of cross learning, high motivation and better teaching learning processes in the educational institutes.

The objective is to take the education system to the next level by providing exposure and educational training to teachers, school heads, and school education administrators in countries like Switzerland, Singapore, Finland and institutes like Harvard and Oxford on government expenses.

Amritsar, March 8:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday announced that the state Government will open two brainstorming centres at Amritsar and Mohali for students to share business ideas on pattern of Speakers Platform at Munich in Germany.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government has already introduced Business Blasters initiative at school level for idea sharing and Rs 11 crore has been disbursed to the students. He said that the sole motive is to provide platforms for brainstorming to the students so new business ideas can prop up. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that on the same pattern the state government is going to set up Brainstorming Centres for new business ideas at Amritsar and SAS Nagar (Mohali).

Extending his best wishes on International Women Say, the Chief Minister quoted gurbani ‘So Kyu Manda Akheyeye Jitt Jame Rajan’ adding that the great Sikh Gurus have kept the women in high esteem. He also expressed concern over the social evil of female foeticide which was still prevalent in the society but needs to be changed. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the girls have excelled in every arena of life and have emerged as role models with their hard work and success.

The Chief Minister said that these girls have made their parents, society and the state proud by achieving success in even those areas which were considered fiefdom of men. Replying to a student’s query about introducing technology in the state, he said that the state government is already integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) across various sectors. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the State Government has introduced AI in policing, agriculture, finance and other fields to ensure efficiency and transparency.

The Chief Minister said that with these advancements, the state government aims to rope in experts to the forefront to run the affairs of the state effectively. Encouraging students to embrace the digital era, he said that this is the era of digitalization and Punjab is moving forward with a vision to become a leader in technological innovation. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the main Focus of state government is on employment-based education and to develop skills that align with the demands of the modern world.

The Chief Minister underlined the importance of skill development adding that the education should not be confined just to degrees rather it should be about acquiring skills that make you employable and capable of contributing to society. Describing girls as "creators", Bhagwant Singh Mann hailed them for their invaluable contributions to society adding that Girls are not just achievers; they are creators. He said that God has blessed them with the unique ability to create, nurture and transform the world so it is our bounden duty to ensure they have every opportunity to flourish.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has made concerted efforts for empowering women in the state. He said that his party has made 11 women as MLAs adding that eight officers have been appointed Deputy Commissioners and three women have been appointed Senior Superintendent of Police. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that One lady has been appointed Commissioner of Police, 19 women have been appointed ADCs and Seven have been appointed Secretaries of various departments.

The Chief Minister further said that required amendments have been made in the rules for changing the physical criteria for recruitment of ladies in Fire Fighting staff. He said that none of the previous governments had bothered to change these rules because they were least bothered about the people and their problems. Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that Punjab will be the first state in the country to recruit girls in the fire fighting staff.

The Chief Minister said that these reforms were need of hour as in view of skyscrapers and congested roads in interiors, the latest type of vehicles are to be provided to the fire brigade. He said that the state government is ready to bring revolutionary changes in its functioning for the welfare of the common man. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that every effort is being made to ensure holistic development of the state and prosperity of its people.

The Chief Minister shared a personal anecdote from his early days by recalling his first stage performance in Sunam to inspire the audience. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that he was nervous, but that experience taught me the value of stepping out of my comfort zone as hard work and self-belief are the keys to success. He said that though he came from a common background but today he is the custodian of the rights of 3.5 crore people.

The Chief Minister said that this is the power of hard work, commitment, perseverance and dedication. He announced several new initiatives aimed at empowering women and youth, including skill development programs, scholarships, entrepreneurship opportunities, and financial assistance. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government is committed to create an inclusive environment where everyone can excel.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working tirelessly to provide equal opportunities and promote gender equality in all spheres of life. He said that the state government had given 51665 jobs to youth purely on merit basis adding that the sole motive is to make youth an active partner in socio-economic progress of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the students and youth are like planes and the state government will provide them a launchpad to go ahead in life.

The Chief Minister unequivocally said that he won’t rest until the students of Punjab don’t achieve their desired goals. He said that politics is just a service to the poor but nowadays politics becomes a haven of goons adding that if good people will run away from politics then the field will be left open for bad people. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that previous governments had ruined the dreams of the people that’s why our people wanted to go abroad but due to untiring effort of the state government a reverse trend is being witnessed in the state.
