Amritsar, March 9, 2025 – On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the AirCare Centre in Amritsar. An initiative of Asar and Clean Air Punjab, the Centre is dedicated to advancing science-backed solutions for air quality improvement and sustainable agriculture in Punjab.

Over the past six months, the AirCare Centre has emerged as a critical hub for crop residue management and climate-smart Agriculture. With a strong focus on incentivizing sustainable agricultural practices, the Centre is actively working on solutions to mitigate stubble burning—one of the key contributors to air pollution in the state.

Recognizing the barriers many farmers face in accessing knowledge and resources, the Centre has also organized localized convenings, ensuring that insights and best practices reach even those who are unable to travel. Moving forward, the AirCare Centre will continue to leverage scientific research and community-driven strategies to drive measurable improvements in Punjab’s air quality.

Sanam Wazir, Head of State Climate Action at Asar,, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating:

“The AirCare Centre represents a pivotal step in Punjab’s fight for cleaner air and sustainable agriculture. By combining scientific expertise with grassroots engagement, we are fostering a future where environmental responsibility and economic prosperity go hand in hand.”
