CHANDIGARH, 15.04.25-The Postgraduate Department of English at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an educational field trip to Doordarshan Chandigarh, for the students of Functional English Semester 4. The visit aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to the functioning of national television broadcasting center, and to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world media practices. The students got the opportunity to explore various sections of the studio including the news production unit, editing rooms, production control rooms, and the live studio set. The technical team explained the functioning of different equipment and shared insights about the production process, scripting, camera handling and live telecasting. An interesting highlight of the visit was the opportunity to witness the live recording of an educational program on Quantum Physics. The session featured an expert speaker simplifying complex scientific concepts for viewers and showcased how Doordarshan continues to promote informative and accessible content for the general public. This experience gave students a unique perspective on how communication is effectively handled in a studio setting. Additionally, an interactive session with senior producers, news anchors and technical team provided students with valuable insights into the world of media, challenges of broadcasting, and the evolving role of public service television.
This educational visit proved to be highly informative and inspiring. The exposure sparked enthusiasm among aspiring media professionals to pursue their passion with greater clarity and confidence.
