CHANDIGARH,5 March 2026,The All India Civil Services Weightlifting & Powerlifting Tournament 2025–26 (Men & Women) is being organized by the Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration under the aegis of the Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board (CCSCSB), New Delhi at the Weightlifting Hall, Sports Complex, Sector-42, Chandigarh from 5th to 10th March 2026.
The tournament was formally declared open by Dr. Mahender Singh, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The opening ceremony commenced with the oath ceremony administered by all participating athletes, reaffirming their commitment to fair play and sportsmanship.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were:
• Sh. Kamaldeep Singh, Vice President, Chandigarh Amateur Weightlifting Association
• Sh. K.D.S. Nagra, Retd. Chief Coach (Weightlifting), NSNIS Patiala
• Sh. Rattan Singh Rana, Convenor, CCSCSB
• Dr. Bhagwant Singh, IYA, Nodal Officer
Approximately 400 participants from various Central Government departments and organizations across the country are taking part in both Weightlifting and Powerlifting competitions.
Results of today’s Weightlifting events are as follows:
- Senior Women – 48 Kg Category
- Senior Men – 60 Kg Category
- Kalal K. Bhakare (Govt. of Maharashtra) – Total: 73 kg – Rank 1
- Sangeeta Dewangan (Raipur, Chhattisgarh) – Total: 52 kg – Rank 2
- Lakshmi D. (Karnataka) – Total: 45 kg – Rank 3
- Sooraj Ramteke (Raipur, Chhattisgarh) – Total: 191 kg – Rank 1
- Ajay (CCSCSB) – Total: 163 kg – Rank 2
- Pawan (Yamunanagar,Haryana) – Total: 156 kg – Rank 3
The competitions will continue over the coming days with athletes competing in various weight categories in both men and women sections.
