Chandigarh, May 26, 2026:In pursuance of the directions of Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, a committee under the Chairmanship of Sh. D. Karthikeyan, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), was constituted on 11.05.2026 to examine and recommend need-based changes in CHB dwelling units. As part of this exercise, Sh. D. Karthikeyan, along with Sh. Rajiv Mehta, Chief Architect, U.T. Chandigarh; Smt. Mandip Mehndiratta, Senior Town Planner, Department of Urban Planning and Smt. Nalini Sharma, Architect, Chandigarh Housing Board, today visited various sectors of the city including Sector 40-C, Sector 43-A, Sector 43-B and Sector 38 (West) to review the changes made by allottees in independent dwelling units.
The committee has been mandated to assess the modifications undertaken by allottees, identify permissible alterations and recommend changes that may be allowed while ensuring that there is no compromise on structural stability, fire safety, light, ventilation and other essential planning norms.
Subsequently, an interaction was held with representatives of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) from Sectors 40-C, 40-D, 41-A, 43-A, 43-B, 47-D and Sector 13. During the meeting, the representatives submitted their suggestions and representations regarding the need-based modifications required in CHB independent houses. Detailed discussions were also held on various issues concerning Chandigarh Housing Board in the respective sectors.
The representatives of the Resident Welfare Associations appreciated the initiative of the Chandigarh Administration in constituting the committee for reviewing need-based changes in CHB dwelling units.

Rajbir Singh Brar, President, RWA, Sector 38 (West), along with other officers of Chandigarh Housing Board and Chandigarh Administration.
