Chandigarh, May 26:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh has appealed to all property owners to deposit their Property Tax well before the due date of 31st May 2026 in order to avail attractive rebate benefits and avoid penalty and interest.

During the ongoing Assessment Period from 01.04.2026 to 31.05.2026, property owners are eligible for 20% rebate on Residential Property Tax and 10% rebate on Commercial Property Tax. The Corporation has already issued demand notices reflecting the current year Property Tax along with applicable arrears in respect of Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Government and Residential properties/lands for the Assessment Year 2026–27.

Appealing to the citizens, Sh. Amit Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh said, “The Property Tax collected by the Municipal Corporation plays a significant role in strengthening civic infrastructure and enhancing public services across the city. He urged all residents and commercial property owners to deposit their Property Tax on or before 31st May 2026 and avail the rebate benefits being offered by the Corporation. Timely payment will also help citizens avoid unnecessary penalty and interest.

The last date for deposit of Property Tax/Service Charges for all categories of properties is 31.05.2026. Thereafter, defaulters shall be liable to pay 25% penalty over and above the prescribed tax amount along with interest @ 12% per annum with effect from 01.04.2026 till the end of the month in which payment is made.

The Commissioner informed that 61,910 assessees have successfully deposited an amount of Rs. 49.08 Crore till date. Property owners who have not yet received their demand bills have been advised to check the current demand along with arrears through the official e-Sampark portal and ensure timely payment before the deadline. As only four days are left for availing the rebate benefits, citizens are requested to avoid last-minute rush and deposit their Property Tax at the earliest.
