Chandigarh, September 17, 2026: On the occasion of Poshan Maah 2026, a series of awareness and community-based activities were organized across different Anganwadi Circles of Chandigarh, with a focus on promoting nutrition, maternal and child health, anaemia prevention and healthy practices among beneficiaries and families.
At Behlana Circle, an Anaemia Screening Camp and PMMVY Awareness Camp was organized. During the camp, beneficiaries were screened for anaemia and were sensitized about the importance of timely health check-ups and appropriate nutrition. Awareness was also provided regarding the benefits, eligibility and registration process under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
At Mani Majra Circle, an Awareness Session on Seasonal Fruits and Vegetables was conducted. Families were sensitized about the nutritional importance and health benefits of consuming locally available seasonal fruits and vegetables. Anganwadi Workers and the Supervisor actively participated in the session and encouraged families to incorporate a variety of seasonal foods into their daily diets.
At Palsora Circle, an awareness session on Community Monitoring and Quality of Hot Cooked Meal (HCM) was organized. The importance of maintaining quality, hygiene and nutritional standards in HCM was highlighted. The session also covered various important nutrition and health-related topics, including overall nutrition, oral hygiene, food fortification and micronutrients, identification and management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) children, and the importance of complementary feeding.
Additional activities at Palsora Circle included a lecture on the importance of seasonal vegetables, demonstration of proper handwashing practices, distribution of IFA tablets, awareness on appropriate diet during pregnancy, and sensitization on the importance of timely immunization.
The activities were aimed at strengthening community awareness and encouraging families to adopt healthy dietary and hygiene practices, ensure timely health interventions, and avail themselves of government schemes and services for improved maternal and child health and nutrition.
