BJP will certainly win the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat:Manohar Lal


Chandigarh, December 3—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has said BJP will certainly win the Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. He was interacting with newsmen after addressing the Pravasi Haryana Sammelan, in Patna today.

           The Chief Minister said the BJP had emerged victorious in Uttar Pradesh civic polls. Out of the 16 mayoral seats in the elections to urban local bodies, 14 have been won by the BJP. The wind is blowing in favour of BJP and it is indicative of the fact that BJP would form government in both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, he added. 

        Asked to comment on the suggestions made by him that only educated MLAs and MPs should be elected, the Chief Minister said the Haryana Government had made it mandatory that only educated representatives would be elected to Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads.

The state government had to face lot of hurdles from different corners in implementing this decision, but we were committed to bringing about reforms in the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) system. Even the Supreme Court has made remarks in favour of this decision, saying that other states should also replicate this system.

           In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said the Haryana Government had made a provision under which liquor vends would not be opened in those villages of the state where gram panchayats sent a resolution in this regard to the state government before December 31, 2017

 Haryana Government has decided to transfer four sectors of Gurugram developed by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to the Urban Local Bodies.

Chandigarh, Dec 3– Haryana Government has decided to transfer four sectors of Gurugram developed by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to the Urban Local Bodies. 

         While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, who is also the Chairman of HUDA has approved the transfer of Sector-42, 51, 52 and 57 in Gurugram to Municipal Corporation, Gurugram.
