Chandigarh, December 16:- The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh organized free medical check up camp for the Welfare Waste Collectors of city  at Civil Dispensary, Sector 8, here today. The camp was inaugurated by Smt. Asha Jaswal, Mayor of Chandigarh in presence of Sh. Mahesh Inder Singh, area councillor and Dr. P.S. Bhatti, Medical Officer of Health, MCC.

During the camp medical tests of nearly 515 persons including Safaikarmacharis & Door to Door Waste Collectors have been done.

The Mayor said that these type of camps will be organised regularly so that the safaikarmacharis & Door to Door Collectors can get themselves medically checked and treated free of cost. She said that  the next camp will be organized at Dadumajra & life Insurance for the Waste Collectors will be done by MCC. Demonstration of Malaria and Dengue have also been done and awareness has been created towards preventive measures of TB.

Dr. Sarvdeep Kaur(Medical Incharge Civil Dispensary 8 ), Dr. Rupam(Dental Surgeon Civil Dispensary 8), Dr. Deepti (Social Worker), Doctors from Primary Health MCC,  Specialist from GMSH 16, Chandigarh and other prominent persons were present during the inauguration of camp.


The doctors from various specialities like Medicine,  Dental, Gynae, Skin, Eye and ENT examined patients and provided them free consultation. In the Camp various test like Blood Sugar, Uric Acid, Lipid Profile, TSH, BMD, Diabetics, HBA1C, Spirometery & Medicine distributed free of cost .

During the camp general public has been sensitised about adoption of healthy lifestyle including healthy food and importance of physical activity. In the camp special participation was given by NGOs, Dr. Sanjeev Bhatia (Reeshap Global Health Care) and Dr. Babu (Arogya Bharti). Free medicinal plants have also been distributed to the waste collectors and safaikarmacharis.
