Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness Day Celebration 2018

Chandigarh,13.02.18-Under the guidance of Dr. Kathirvel S, Assistant professor and faculty in charge, Urban Health Training centre (under Department of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh), Sector 38, Chandigarh celebrated the Sexual and Reproductive Health Awareness day in collaboration with Dr. Harjeetkaur, Senior Medical Officer, Civil Dispensary, Sector 38, Chandigarh. The awareness campaign was attended by 20-25 people. The talk was delivered by Dr. Nitika (Senior Resident, Dept. of Community Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh) and Mrs Rupinderjit Kaur (Multipurpose Health Worker, Dept. of Community Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh). Dr. Nitika welcomed the people for the talk. She explained about the importance of reproductive and sexual health and the implications of breach in reproductive and sexual health. They were informed regarding the symptoms of reproductive tract diseases, which includes vaginal discharge, itching, foul smell, abdominal pain, and backache. The urgency of seeking treatment in presence of such symptoms was explained. Similarly, the common sexually transmitted diseases, symptoms and the need for reporting with healthcare facility was discussed. After this, Mrs Rupinderjit discussed about the various contraceptives options available. She tried to clear the myths related to copper T usage. The importance of using contraceptive after delivery was also discussed. The women should not wait for her period to resume for initiation of contraceptive. The celebration concluded with vote of thanks.

The Department of Anatomy, PGIMER, Chandigarh feels proud to receive the body of Mrs. Manjeet Kaur  W/o Mr. Hari Singh, age 74 years/female, R/o #1663A Park view Street, Kharar  as a donation on dated  12.02.2018  who expired on  11.02.2018. The department is grateful to the family and admires them for this noble gesture.
