Pharma Research Scholar Granted Commonwealth Scholarship for UK
Ms Ripandeep Kaur, currently working as a Research Fellow at National UGC
Centre of Excellence in NanoBioMedical Applications, Panjab University, has been
selected for the highly prestigious “Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarship-2018”, fully
funded to carry out Indo-British collaborative research in domain of the
NanoBioMedicine, as conveyed through an official communiqué from the Commonwealth
Scholarship Commission, UK.
Ripandeep has been pursuing her doctoral research work in the Faculty of
Pharmaceutical Sciences under the direct supervision of Dr Bhupinder Singh Bhoop,
Coordinator, UGC Centre of Excellence in NanoBioMedical Applications, and Professor
(UIPS), and Dr O P Katare, Professor (UIPS) on a topic “QbD-Driven Systematic
Development of Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems of Antimalarial Drugs with
Improved Biopharmaceutical Attributes”. She will extend her work on nanostructured
delivery of antimalarial drugs and their extensive characterization using molecular
and biological approaches under the supervision of Professor Niroshini Nirmalan at the
University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
The highly prestigious award includes to-and-fro international travel
expenditure to UK, tuition fees at the University, living allowance for one year,
research contingencies, study travel grant within UK or overseas, all accounting for
approx. £ 40,000.
This is highly pertinent to add that Ms Kanika Thakur and Ms Ranjot Kaur,
working under the tutelage of Professor Bhoop and Professor Katare at UIPS, were both
awarded with the Commonwealth Split-Site Scholarships too in 2017, and have already
been working at the University of Nottingham and University of Central Lancashire,
respectively, in domain of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The admission process to B.E./ B. Arch./ Integrated B.E.(Chemical)-MBA courses for the session 2018-19

The admission process to B.E./ B. Arch./ Integrated B.E.(Chemical)-MBA courses for the
session 2018-19 is being organized by University Institute of Engineering & Technology,
Panjab University, Chandigarh under the ambit of Joint Admission Committee, Chandigarh.
This year following institutes are participating in the admission process:
1. University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
2. Dr. S. S. Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology, Panjab
University, Chandigarh (formerly Department of Chemical Engineering & Technology).
3. Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology, Sector-26, Chandigarh.
4. University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Panjab University S.S Giri Regional
Centre (PUSSGRC), Hoshiarpur.
5. Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh.
Registration on the website was closed on 30 th June 2018 and total 4061 candidates have applied
for various courses of their choice. For facilitation of the candidates, a correction window was
opened on 1 st - 2 nd July 2018 to help the candidates for correcting mistakes during the registration.
Prof Savita Gupta, Chairperson JAC, ensured smooth functioning of the whole process and the
help-desk was setup to solve daily queries of the candidates. The documents of Sports category
candidates are being verified on 3 rd -4 th July 2018 at Gymnasium Hall, Panjab University,
Chandigarh. The Chairperson JAC has ensured the smooth conduct of the sports gradation
process of the candidates which is being followed for the first time in Panjab University,
Chandigarh.
All other registered candidates who have opted for reservation benefit(s) in the registration form
in the category like BC, PwD, Sports, Freedom Fighter, Kashmiri Migrants/Displaced,
Terrorist/Riot Victim, One Girl Child out of the only two girl children,
Cancer/AIDS/Thalassemia patients, Kargil Martyrs, EWS, Rural area, Border Area and Defence
should REPORT IN PERSON with all supporting documents for verification from 4-6 July 2018,
at LAW Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh, at time and venue as per schedule
mentioned at the website “chdenggadmissions.nic.in”. If a candidate does not turn up during
these dates, then the benefit of these categories will not be extended to them. However, candidate
shall be eligible for choice filling under their respective main category (General, SC & ST),
subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
Final List of Eligible candidates will be displayed on 7 th July 2018 by 8 PM.
Admissions will be made on the basis of JEE (Main) -2018 All India Rank (AIR). There will be
three rounds of online counselling followed by one last SPOT round of online counselling.
