Chandigarh, October 23 – In Haryana, Soft Skill Training would be imparted to students studying the final year in government, society or aided polytechnic and engineering colleges of the state for the overall personality development and enhancing employability of students.

This was informed by Additional Chief Secretary Technical Education, Ms. Jyoti Arora after signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Technical Education, Haryana and M/s Naandi Foundation which is a CSR Initiative of Mahindra Group.

Ms. Jyoti Arora said that this customised programme for students covering aspects of aptitude, behaviour and career skills is first of its kind in Northern India and will enhance employability, overall placement ratio and average salary of passing out students as department has also taken new initiatives on induction, curriculum change, mentoring and regular Industry Institute Interactions.

Director, Technical Education, Mr. A. Sreenivas said that the Department is presently having 37 government, society and aided polytechnics and four State Engineering Colleges other than self financing polytechnic and engineering colleges which are running different diploma and degree programs in the field of engineering, pharmacy and management. For improving academic performance, overall personality development and enhancing employability of students in institutes, various steps were taken during last academic year and the Department was able to achieve nearly 100 per cent placement including higher studies for the students passing out of government polytechnics and state engineering colleges. During various interactions with the industries, it was observed that for enhancing employability and to provide better placements to students in Global Industries and MNCs, there is a dire need of professional assistance, guidance and mentoring by the experts in this area for improvement in their soft skills in communication, body language, group discussions, interview preparation, quality tools etc which will provide a competitive edge to the passing out students and will make them more employable.

National Director, M/s Naandi Foundation, Ms Padma Jayaraman said that Mahindra Pride Class Room is a flagship Corporate Responsibility Livelihood program of the Mahindra and Mahindra Group and is fully implemented by Naandi Foundation. The said soft skill training of 60 Hours would be provided free of cost at the doorstep by the professional trainers. Evaluation and Certification will also be done by Mahindra Pride Class Room.
