Chandigarh,20,11.18-Committed to the cause of Swachhata, MCM DAV College for Women- the cleanest educational institution in the country, organised a slew of activities to propagate the cause. Under the aegis of the Swachhata Committee of the college, the Department of Computer Science and Applications organised an awareness session on E-waste Management. Around 170 students attended the lecture that was conducted by Mr.VivekShrivastava, Associate General Manager, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. Mr.Vivekemphasised on 6 alternatives of waste management ranging from most preferred to least preferred as Avoid, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Create energy and Disposal. He encouraged the audience to drop obsolete electronic and electrical material in separate e-waste bins and appreciated the fact that MCM DAV is already providing this facility in the campus. The Swachhata Committee also organised Poster-making and Rangoli Competitions on the themes of Swachh Bharat Swasth Bharat and Save Environment, and Cleanest Hostel Room Competition with the aim of reinforcing the message of cleanliness and environmental conservation.

Principal Dr.NishaBhargava reiterated that MCM is an environmentally conscious institution that has made considerable strides in this area including installation of biogas plant, vermicomposting, composting, rain water harvesting and solar power generation, to name a few.
