Chandigarh,22nd July, 2019,-First ceremonial function was held at St.Joseph School, Sec.44, Chandigarh wherein Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS and Director Env. Was the Chief Guest. Sh. Dalai, told that the overall objective of celebrating the ‘Herbal Day’ was to sensitize the masses especially school children to generate awareness about the medicinal values of various plants available in nature and to make Chandigarh more clean & green city.

Second function was held at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-33, Chandigarh in which Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. On this occasion, the Chief Guest planted the sapling of ‘Rudraksh’ at school premises and also distributed herbal plants among school children, teachers and staff. Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS emphasized about the need of herbal plants in curing of our day-to-day health problems and exhorted school students to be sensitive towards nature and plant more & more trees so as to make Chandigarh a cleaner city.

The ‘Herbal Day’ was being celebrated across all Eco Clubs in various schools of Chandigarh.
