SHIMLA-8th April, 2020-Governor Bandaru Dattatraya held a meeting with Director General of Police (DGP) S.R. Mardi at Raj Bhavan, Shimla, today to review enforcement of lockdown and curfew in the State to prevent spread of coronavirus.

The Governor took stock of the situation in the bordering areas of the State and enquired about the situation arising due to members of Tablighi Jamaat who had recently returned to Himachal. He said that police personnel were working round the clock in the state and have been deployed at each quarantine and isolation centres. He asked the DGP to ensure that the Police Personnel were provided with masks, sanitizers, Personal Protection Equipment Kits, etc. He expressed satisfaction over the peaceful situation, law and order, health facilities and distribution of food items etc. He lauded their efforts and dedication. He asked the officers to also work on post lockdown planning.

DGP apprised the Governor in detail about the overall situation and arrangements being made by Police Department in the State as per the directions of State and Centre government. He informed that the curfew and lockdown orders were being strictly followed by the State Police and action taken against the violators. He said that 522 cases against 448 persons have been registered for violation of curfew and lockdown till 8 April, 2020. He added that 104 FIR have been registered in Mandi district and 80 FIR in Shimla district. He said that 123 persons have been arrested in Shimla district for violation and 62 persons in Bilaspur district.

Shri Mardi said that Police district Baddi, district Chamba, Una and Kangra were the Hot Spots in the state. He also detailed the situation on Inter-State borders with respect to Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir and said that adequate police personnel have been deployed to seal the Inter-State border. He said that all SPs have been directed to prepare district-wise post lockdown plan in consultation with district magistrate. He said that arrangements have been made for the safety and precautions of police personnel on duty.
