Mayor Saurabh Joshi leads by example, completes census 2027 self-enumeration; Urges citizens to join digital drive

Chandigarh, April 16:- In a significant step towards promoting digital participation and inclusive governance, Chandigarh Mayor Sh. Saurabh Joshi on Thursday completed his self-enumeration for Census 2027 through the official online portal, setting an example for citizens to follow.

By adopting the digital process, the Mayor highlighted the government’s commitment to making the census exercise more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly. He described the self-enumeration system as simple, seamless, and time-saving, allowing residents to submit their details conveniently without any paperwork or physical visits.

Emphasizing the importance of accurate data collection, Sh. Joshi stated that the success of Census 2027 largely depends on active public participation. “The digital platform empowers citizens to contribute to nation-building from the comfort of their homes while ensuring transparency and reliability in the process,” he said.

The Mayor urged residents to complete their self-enumeration promptly and responsibly, stressing that reliable data is crucial for effective planning, policy formulation, and implementation of welfare schemes.
Officials informed that self-enumeration is a key feature of the upcoming census, aimed at leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, minimize errors, and ensure wider coverage.

The department has intensified awareness campaigns across the city to encourage maximum participation. MC cracks down on illegal vending; 72 challans issued in citywide enforcement drive

Chandigarh, April 16:- Continuing its sustained efforts to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain public order, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today carried out an extensive enforcement drive against illegal street vending across various parts of the city.

The drive commenced from Sector 17 Bank Square and subsequently covered key areas including Naya Gaon Barrier and Sector 22 outer market. In the evening, enforcement teams intensified the drive in Kajheri Village and Raipur Khurd.

A total of four dedicated teams were deployed to conduct the drive simultaneously, ensuring effective monitoring and swift action. During the operation, illegal vendors encroaching upon public spaces and roadways were removed, restoring accessibility for pedestrians and commuters.

The entire drive was conducted peacefully with full cooperation from the public. A total of 72 challans were issued to violators for non-compliance with civic regulations.
