Chandigarh, July 12 – Principal Secretary, Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi said that the State Government has been providing subsidy up to 80 per cent on agricultural equipment such as straw chopper, zero tillage, happy seeder, rotavator, salensar, mulcher, reversible plough and 40 per cent subsidy on other agriculture equipment such as tractor and laser leveller so that the crop residue should not be burnt and instead be suppressed in the soil to maintain the fertility of the land. Apart from this, 50 per cent subsidy is also being given to farmers in individual category on modern agriculture equipment being used in crop residue management.
Dr. Likhi gave this information while interacting with a group of farmers in village Ganjbar district Panipat today. He also inspected the Custom Hiring Centre of farmer Mr. Bijender Singh, set up there. He also gave detailed information to the farmers about the main schemes of the Department.
He said that the main aim of Custom Hiring Centre is with crop residue management. He also informed the farmers about the benefits of modern agricultural equipment being used in crop residue management and urged them to make other farmers aware about the ill effects of burning crop residue on health and environment.
