MAHENDERGARH, 21.02.25-On the occasion of 'Sankalp Diwas', the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Central University (CUH), Mahendergarh in collaboration with the Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh Study Center organized a documentary screening to aware about the Pakistan and China-occupied regions of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh. The documentary, prepared by 'Jammu & Kashmir Now', highlighted various aspects related to the areas under illegal occupation by Pakistan and China. The head of Jammu and Kashmir Now, Mr. Hardeep Lashkari was present as an expert in this program organized under the direction and guidance of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar.
In this event organized by the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Study Center from the Haryana region, a large number of students from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication participated. They watched a documentary prepared by Jammu and Kashmir NOW and discussed various technical aspects and subjects presented in it. On this occasion, the expert Shri Hardeep Lashkari provided valuable insights into the process of documentary filmmaking and emphasized the importance of 'Sankalp Diwas'. He elaborated on how the Indian Parliament, on February 22, 1994, passed a resolution declaring the Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions as an integral part of India and reaffirmed the commitment to reclaim these territories.
Dr. Ashok Sharma, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, spoke about the production aspects of documentary filmmaking, focusing on topic selection and its acceptability among audiences. He encouraged students to choose relevant themes for their documentaries. Dr. Vivek Balyan, the state secretary of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Study Centre, shared important information with students about the significance of the occupied regions and their importance for India’s strategic interests. He also emphasized the need for public awareness regarding the reclamation of these areas. Dr. Neeraj Karan Singh, Assistant Professor of the Department, said that along with documentary film screening, a workshop on Filmmaking was also organized. In which Dr. Vikas and Rohit of Vishwa Samvad Kendra addressed the participants.
The event was also attended by faculty members of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, including Dr. Neeraj Karan Singh, Dr. Alekh S. Nayak, Dr. Surender Kumar, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, and Dr. Bharti Batra. The screening and discussions aimed to foster a deeper understanding among students about the complex geopolitical issues surrounding Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as well as the importance of continuing the struggle for their rightful integration into India.
