CHANDIGARH, 22.04.25-The Department of Environment Studies, in collaboration with Dharini – The Environment Awareness Society of Post Graduate Government College, Sector-46, Chandigarh, celebrated Earth Day with great enthusiasm and commitment on 22nd April 2025.
A series of engaging intra-college activities were organised to raise awareness about the urgent need to conserve our planet and its invaluable resources. Students enthusiastically participated in events such as Poster Making, the Human Chain for Earth, and the “Save Our Planet” Pledge, each designed to inspire reflection and action toward protecting Mother Earth. The theme of this year’s event was “Our Power, Our Planet.”
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sehgal emphasized,“Let us not forget that Earth Day is not just a one-day observance, but a call for consistent action. Let us pledge today to reduce waste, plant trees, conserve water, spread awareness, and be the voice for our planet.”
Mrs. Anuradha Mittal, Dean of the college, and Prof. Sneh Harshinder Sharma, Vice Principal, also graced the occasion and shared words of encouragement, applauding the students’ creativity and enthusiasm.
Students expressed their thoughts and hopes for a greener future through slogans, posters, and an original Earth emoticon/emoji, showcasing their passion and originality.
The event witnessed active participation from nearly 50 students and was successfully coordinated by Dr. Ritu Sarsoha and Dr. Amanpreet Kaur, faculty members of the Department of Environment Studies.
