Chandigarh, April 25, 2025-Noted author and esteemed daughter of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Ms Daman Singh, arrived at Panjab University, Chandigarh, today for the inauguration of the memorial plaque at Dr Manmohan Singh Hall and to deliver the PU Colloquium lecture.

Ms Daman Singh will deliver the PU Colloquium lecture titled “Dr Manmohan Singh: The Quintessential Scholar” on April 25, 2025, at the Panjab University Auditorium. The event will also mark the renaming of Arts Block–3 as “Dr Manmohan Singh Hall” and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in honour of the university’s distinguished alumnus and former Prime Minister.

Ms Singh is also the author of Strictly Personal: Manmohan & Gursharan, a biographical portrait of her parents.

Ms Daman and her nephew, Mr Raghav Tankha, were received today at the university’s guest house by the Chairperson of the Department of Economics and members of the committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor of Panjab University for honouring the memory of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

In the evening, Ms Daman Singh and Sh Raghav Tankha visited the Gandhi Bhawan and the Museum of Fine Arts, where they appreciated the ongoing exhibition of wooden murals by Sureel Kumar. Later, they visited the A.C. Joshi Library, where they took an aerial view of the university. After visiting the Department of Zoology’s museum, she recorded a brief segment at Panjab University’s community radio station, followed by a visit to the Student Centre.
