CHANDIGARH, 26.04.25-The Postgraduate Department of Economics at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, organised an interactive session titled ‘India@2047: Leveraging Opportunities and Overcoming Challenges’.
The resource person for the session was Dr. P. Arunachalam, Emeritus Professor and Fellow, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. Dr. Arunachalam portrayed India’s economic prosperity during ancient and medieval periods, and explained how India had to struggle for economic growth and prosperity in the post independence era. The session highlighted that amongst other issues and requisites for achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047 such as education, skill enhancement and basic infrastructure, the most crucial issue is to focus on increasing women’s labour force participation rate so as to enhance women’s contribution to GDP. Around 70 students attended the session.
Expressing appreciation for this endeavour, Officiating Principal Ms. Neena Sharma reinforced the importance of empowerment and active involvement of women in all the aspects of the society to achieve the goals of a prosperous and inclusive nation.
