WITH AN AIM TO NURTURE SPORTS TALENT AT SCHOOL LEVEL, GOVT WILL SOON RECRUIT 2000 PTI TEACHERS: HARJOT BAINS
Chandigarh, April 26:In a significant push to further strengthen the state's education system and nurture sports talent at school level amidst the ongoing “Sikhya Kranti” program, Punjab Government will recruit 2000 Physical Training Instructor (PTI) teachers for primary schools across the state, announced S. Harjot Singh Bains, Minister of School Education, Punjab.
He said that the requisition has been forwarded to the Recruitment Board of the School Education department to fill these posts, emphasising that recruitment process will be merit-based and in transparent manner.
Highlighting the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government's efforts, S. Harjot Singh Bains said that the government has already filled over 13000 school teachers vacancies in the past three years, including 4006 Master Cadre teachers and 7351 ETT teachers. The government has also prioritised promotions across various cadres, including 2600 Master Cadre teachers promoted as Lecturers, 425 ETT teachers promoted as Master Cadre teachers, 350 PTIs promoted as DPEs, 57 Principals promoted as DEOs, 75 non-teaching staff promoted as Master Cadre teachers, and 450 Master Cadre teachers promoted as Headmasters.
The recruitment of PTI teachers would supplement the Punjab Government’s drive to establish playgrounds in all schools, ensuring students have access to proper sports infrastructure. These PTI teachers will play a pivotal role in training students, promoting physical fitness, and channelizing their energy into constructive activities, fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall well-being of the students, the Education Minister added.
He further said that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has been pulling all stops to ensure a robust and accessible education system that empowers students to reach their full potential and nurture academic excellence to transform Punjab's educational landscape.
The School Education Secretary Ms. Anindita Mitra informed that the details regarding application process and eligibility criteria would be available on the official website educationrecruitmentboard.com within seven days.
Divulging the qualification details for the PTI teachers, she said that an applicant must have passed 10th class with Punjabi and he/she should have passed 10+2 with at least two years diploma or certificate in Physical Education as Diploma in Physical Education or certificate in Physical Education (D.P.Ed/C.P.Ed) or have done this course with any other nomenclature. The eligible candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications and performance in a written exam and physical fitness test.

Chandigarh/Pathankot, April 26:It is only due to our brave soldiers who guard the Nation's borders that we are breathing in the air of freedom and able to sleep peacefully. The Punjab Government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the District Administration stands shoulder to shoulder with these valiant BSF jawans and assured them of every support and assistance.
These views were expressed by the Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak during his visit to the Simble Sakol check post here today at the Indo - Pak International border. He was accompanied by the DC Aditya Uppal, SSP Daljinder Singh Dhillon, District President BC Wing Naresh Kumar Saini, Block President Rajesh Kumar, Sarpanch Khojki Chak Joginder Pal, Sarpanch Bamiyal Munish alias Chhotu, Commandant BSF Suresh Singh.
The Minister also laid wreath on the memorial of Shaheed Kamaljit Singh.
During his address, Mr. Kataruchak divulged that 11 posts of BSF are situated along the Indo - Pak International border in the Pathankot District and the biggest of them all is known by the name of Simble Sakol. The Pakistan border lies 200 Metres away from here.
The salient feature of the post is that during the 1971 war when it was surrounded by the Pakistani soldiers the braveheart Kamaljit Singh didn't left it and faced the enemy courageously eventually attaining martyrdom.
Lambasting Pakistan for the cowardly terror attack at Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Kataruchak said there is a wave of anger throughout the country which is fully capable of giving a bloody nose to the enemies.
The Minister further stated that there is perfect coordination between the Civil Administration and the BSF jawans. He also listened to the issues being faced by the BSF jawans manning these posts and assured to look into the same.
Disclosing further, Mr. Kataruchak added that the Punjab Police is also Eveready to extend all Cooperation to the BSF in order to tackle any possible flare up. The State Government would soon recruit about 5000 Home Guard jawans who would keep a hawk's eye on drug smuggling activities, said the Minister adding the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has already made this announcement.
The Cabinet Minister and other civil & police officers were also felicitated on the occasion.

Punjab Government's Thermal Plants Have Excess Coal Stocks
Chandigarh/ Tarn Taran, April 26:In a major push to clean and green energy, the Punjab government will set up a 125 MW solar power plant in 500 acres at Sri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant, Goindwal Sahib, announced Mr. Harbhajan Singh E. T. O., Minister of Power, Punjab.
During his visit to Sri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant, Goindwal, Cabinet Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh E. T. O. said that the Punjab Government had purchased this 540 MW thermal plant from G. V. K. Company in 2024 for Rs. 1080 crore and it has a total land area of 1175 acres. He said that 2 units of 270 MW are running in this thermal plant and the overhauling of one unit has been completed and the overhauling of the another unit will be completed by May 10.
Cabinet Minister Mr. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that keeping in mind the paddy season, this thermal plant will ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity.He said that all the thermal plants of the state have excess coal stock and Sri Guru Amardas Thermal Plant Goindwal Sahib currently has 41 days of coal stock in stock.
He said that uninterrupted power supply to farmers will be provided during the paddy season.
The Cabinet Minister said that the Punjab Government has decided to send 10 new engineers to increase the capacity of this thermal plant.
Shri Harbhajan Singh ETO said that since this thermal plant was purchased by the Punjab Government, its capacity has been further increased.
He said that considerable improvements have been made by the Punjab Government to increase the efficiency of this thermal plant and its PLF load, which was earlier 7 percent, has been increased to 77 percent.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary Mr. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Harjit Singh Director Generation, Surinder Kumar Beri Director Finance, Inderpal Singh Director Distribution, M. R. Bansal Chief Engineer Lehra Mohabbat, Harish Kumar Sharma Chief Engineer Ropar were present.

YUDH NASHIAN VIRUDH: ILLEGAL HOUSES OF FOUR DRUG SMUGGLERS RAZED IN MOGA'S DAULEWALA VILLAGE
Chandigarh/Moga, April 26: Continuing its relentless action against drug smugglers under the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’, Moga Police with the help of district administration on Saturday demolished four illegally constructed houses of notorious drug smugglers in Daulewala village of Moga. The action was conducted under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Moga Ajay Gandhi.
The demolished houses, illegally built on government land, belonged to notorious drug smugglers identified as Paramjit Singh, Lakhwinder Singh, Boota Singh and Rajwinder Kaur, involved in multiple criminal cases registered under the the IPC and NDPS Act. The strong action by the district police sends a clear message that the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has zero tolerance for drug trafficking.
SSP Ajay Gandhi warned the drug smugglers to stop their illegal activities or face similar action. He reiterated that the state government is committed to eradicating the drug menace and will not spare anyone involved in this illegal trade.
The action taken by the district police was appreciated by the villagers led by Sarpanch Sukwhinder Singh, who praised the Punjab Government for their concerted efforts to curb drug trafficking. The villagers also thanked the district administration for taking action against the drug smugglers.
SSP Ajay Gandhi appealed to the people to report any information about drug smugglers to the nearest police station.
