Dehradun January 31, 2021:-The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) conducted a community outreach campaign for the management, maintenance, cleanliness of trekking from Shahshani Ashram Rajpur Road to Jhadipani Mussoorie on Sunday. Local people participated enthusiastically in the event. The proposed route will be jointly developed by UTDB Dehradun and Municipal Council Mussorie.
On the occasion, Secretary Tourism Mr. Dilip Jawalkar said, "The main aim of this event is to take suggestions from visitors and form a community wherein changes can be made for good."
Giving instructions to the District Tourism Development Officer (DTDO) he said that a public toilet and a souvenir tracking equipment store should be developed on the trek. He also said that other such trails will be identified in the district.
Chairman, Municipal Council, Mussoorie Mr. Anuj Gupta said, "Railings and a gate will be constructed on the tracking trail route as per the suggestion we have recieved from the people. We will regularly work to conserve the area so that more and more tourists can come and learn about the heritage trek."
Sharing their suggestions, Members of Citizen of Green Doon Renu Paul, Ira Chauhan and Magali Rastogi said that the movement of vehicles on the track should be stopped. Also, officials should continuously work to maintain the cleanliness in the area.
Vikas a localite from Dehradun, said, "This is a good initiative by UTDB. Officials should work to involve police to regularly visit the area to stop people from littering, especially alcohol bottles, plastic wrappers and polythenes."
District Tourism Development Officer Dehradun (DTDO) Jaspal Chauhan said, "Nearly 150 people voluntarily registered in the campaign. We have recieved very good responses. More such campaigns will be organised in near future."
Deputy Director Tourism Yogendra Kumar Gangwar, Colonel Virendra Malik, Team Waste Warriors, Sulabh International with other officials were present during the event.
