Chandigarh, December 16, 2024: To commemorate the International Day of Girl Child, an assembly of over 800 students of St. Stephen’s School with a slogan of ‘Make Chandigarh Girl Child Friendly City’ was organized at School campus. Mr. Pramod Sharma, founder of Yuvsatta and a unique ‘Girls India’ campaign in the city was the Chief Guest on the occasion. And prominent amongst those who participated includes Principal, Mr. Barry Francis, and the Vice Principal, Mr. John Xavier.

Pink was the colour of the day and the voice for girls’ rights was in the minds and hearts of all the students of the school, with girl students donning pink turbans and boys wearing pink stoles, even teachers came dressed in pink shirts, suits and sarees to show solidarity with the cause of 'Girls India'.

The chief guest Mr. Pramod Sharma, the founder of the NGO, Yuvsatta, said that it’s imperative for each one of us to act, think and work for gender equality in our societies. At least we can make Chandigarh a model girl child friendly city as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 expect all member nations to realize this goal by 2030. Later, he presented a portrait and set of autobiographies of Mahatma Gandhi to School Principal Mr. Barry Francis, and the Vice Principal, Mr. John Xavier.
