CHANDIGARH, 09.11.24-Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University participated in the Chandigarh Science Congress (CHASCON) 2024, held from 6th to 8th November at Panjab University, under the theme "Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat." Enactus team showcased two impactful projects—Arpan and Uday. Arpan, a flagship endeavour of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh and Enactus Panjab University repurposes temple floral waste into eco-friendly incense products, addressing waste management challenges while promoting sustainability and creating economic opportunities for underprivileged communities. Uday, which produces cloth-based sanitary napkins and eco-friendly bags, focuses on empowering underprivileged women and promoting menstrual hygiene, conveyed Prof. Seema Kapoor, Faculty Advisor, Enactus team.
Muskaan, President of the Enactus team, emphasized that their projects were a perfect fit for the theme of CHASCON 2024—leveraging indigenous technologies to tackle pressing social and environmental challenges. She added that the Enactus team’s participation in the conference showcased their commitment to utilizing local resources for social impact and sustainability.
Ayush Bhatt, Project Head of the Enactus team, shared that the team’s poster, titled “From Sacred Petals to Sustainable Luxury: Transforming Floral Temple Waste into Naturally Fragrant Candles for a Greener Tomorrow,” was met with widespread appreciation from conference attendees. He also highlighted that the team’s participation underscored the impact of innovative, youth-driven initiatives in advancing a sustainable and self-reliant India.
