MRSAFPI CELEBRATES HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT AS 20 CADETS MAKE IT TO NDA & TES MERIT LIST

•NDA merit Topper Armaanpreet Singh among ten cadets honoured for outstanding achievements

Chandigarh, November 10:To celebrate the achievements of the cadets from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI), a grand felicitation ceremony was held at the Institute's campus in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Since its inception, the institute has seen the highest number of its cadets making it to the All-India merit list for the NDA/TES courses this year.

Cadet Armaanpreet Singh, who topped the All-India Order of Merit for the NDA, and Karman Singh Talwar, who secured the 2nd rank in the All-India Order of Merit for the Technical Entry Scheme (TES), were among the ten cadets from the 12th Course honoured by Mr. Amarjit Bajwa, Chairman of Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Ms. Prineet Sohal, Principal of Shemrock Senior Secondary School, Colonel Piyush Bahuguna (Retd) of Impact Educational Services, and the faculty of MRSAFPI, led by the Director Major General Ajay H Chauhan.

Notably, the NDA entrance written examination was conducted in April 2024, with approximately six lakh students from across India appeared in the exam. Successful candidates subsequently called for the Services Selection Boards (SSB) interviews. The final merit list was then compiled based on the candidates' performances in both the NDA entrance written examination and the SSB interview. Cadet Armaanpreet Singh of 12th Course, stood 1st in the All-India Order of Merit and Cadet Keshav Singla stood 15th in the Merit. Out of the 24 cadets from the Institute who had cleared the written examination, 16 cadets successfully passed the SSB interviews and made it to the Merit List.

The Technical Entry Scheme (TES)-52 Course merit list was recently declassified, in which Cadet Karman Singh Talwar of the 12th Course secured the 2nd rank in the All-India Merit. Along with Karman, three more cadets from the Institute who had appeared for the SSB were also included in the Merit List.

Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora complimented the cadets on their remarkable achievement. He stated that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the state's youth who wish to join the Defence Services as officers.

Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM, the Director of MRSAFPI, informed that in December 2024, 09 Cadets from the 7th and 8th Courses of the Institute, who are currently undergoing training at the IMA and AFA, will be commissioned as Gazetted Officers in the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, respectively. He also mentioned that the admission process for the 15th Course at the Institute will commence soon, and the date for the entrance examination will be announced shortly.

Vigilance Bureau registers corruption case against Assistant Labor Commissioner, his Computer Operator for accepting Rs 30,000 bribe

Computer Operator nabbed red-handed taking Rs 30,000 bribe, Sent to jail on 14-day judicial remand

Chandigarh, November 10, 2024 -The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption drive, has registered a corruption case against Harpreet Singh PCS, Assistant Labor Commissioner Hoshiarpur, and his office’s computer operator, Alka Sharma, for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. Accused Alka Sharma has been caught red-handed while she was accepting the bribe of 30,000 rupees and has been sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand by the local court. The other accused, Harpreet Singh PCS, is currently absconding.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the VB, said this case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by Rohit Chauhan, running a shop in Kashmiri Bazaar, Hoshiarpur.

The complainant reported to the Bureau that he owns a jewelry shop, which he recently renovated. He subsequently received a notice from the office of the Assistant Labor Commissioner, Hoshiarpur. When he visited the office, Alka Sharma, the computer operator, informed him that he would face a substantial fine, but she could help to resolve the matter by discussing it with her superior, Assistant Labor Commissioner Harpreet Singh.

The spokesperson further stated that the complainant mentioned that Alka Sharma took the notice and went into Harpreet Singh’s office. Shortly after, the complainant was also called into the office, where Harpreet Singh PCS demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 in exchange for dismissing the notice. The complainant recorded the conversation related to the bribe demand and submitted it as an evidence to the Bureau.

He further added that following a preliminary enquiry, the VB formed a team that included the complainant, an official shadow witness, and official witnesses, and laid a trap. During the operation, Alka Sharma, the computer operator, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses, but Harpreet Singh, the Assistant Labor Commissioner, was not found in the office.

The spokesperson informed that a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against both the accused at the Bureau’s Jalandhar Range Police Station. Raids are being conducted at various locations to apprehend Harpreet Singh PCS, the Assistant Labor Commissioner, Hoshiarpur. Further investigation into the case is ongoing, he said.

CHANDIGARH/FARIDKOT, November 10:With the arrest of two key operatives of Gangster-turned-Terrorist Arsh Dalla for their involvement in Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau's murder, Punjab Police have thwarted at least four more possible target killings and solved three sensational crimes including a killing in Madhya Pradesh. The operation was jointly carried out by the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Mohali, Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and Faridkot District Police.

The development came in less than a month after the arrest of three members of the reccee module in this case.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faridkot Dr Pragya Jain has identified the arrested persons as Anmolpreet Singh alias Vishal, a resident of Bhadorh in Barnala and Navjot Singh alias Neetu, a resident of Nijjar road in Kharar. Police teams have also arrested their accomplice identified as Balvir Singh alias Kalu, who is brother shooter Navjot Singh, for aiding and abetting the criminals. All the arrested persons have criminal history.

Police teams have also recovered two sophisticated pistols— including One Pistol Zigana 9mm along with seven live cartridges and one .30 Bore pistol along with four live cartridges, ₹27,500, and a fake Aadhar Card, being used to commit different crimes.

As per the information, Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau alias Bhodi was shot dead on October 9, 2024 while returning back home from the village Gurudwara Sahib on his motorcycle Hero Splendour bearing registration number PB-04U-3258.

SSP Dr Pragya Jain said that preliminary investigations have revealed that Arsh Dalla tasked Navjot alias Neetu to target Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau, who runs a youtube channel under the name of “Hari Nau Talks”. Arsh Dalla shared the required information of Gurpreet Hari Nau with Navjot alias Neetu and asked him to rope in more associates to execute the task, she said, while adding that to accomplish the task Navjot alias Neetu involved his associate Anmolpreet Singh alias Vishal.

She said that Arsh Dalla provided one Glock Pistol along with ammunition and a motorcycle to the arrested accused persons and on October 9, 2024, both the arrested accused went to Village Hari Nau and shot dead Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau.

The SSP said that investigations have revealed that both the shooters were provided hideouts by Arsh Dalla. After commission of crime, the shooters were constantly on the move and changed several hideouts at various cities including Amritsar, SBS Nagar, Himachal-Punjab Border, Chandigarh, Mohali and Kharar. In between Arsh Dalla provided both the shooters with heroin and finance in cash form which they retrieved mostly from public places at Mohali.

She said that investigations have also revealed that the accused also killed Jaswant Singh Gill on Thursday, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh under directions from Arsh Dalla. The person killed was already a convicted criminal for life imprisonment, out on parole for 15 days when he was killed by both shooters. An FIR 756 dt 8/11/24 U/S 103(1) ,3(5) BNS PS Dabra Madhya Pradesh was registered in this regard.

Both suspects then returned to Punjab from Madhya Pradesh after committing the crime, where they were apprehended near Kharar in a joint operation of Faridkot Police with SSOC Mohali & AGTF .

In addition to this, these accused were involved in a firing and extortion incident at Zirakpur on October 18, where a Business man was threatened after firing and a poster at the main entrance with names Arsh Dalla written on it. Upon reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby house, it was found that two individuals arrived on a bike. The footage shows them firing shots and placing the aforementioned poster. An FIR No 470 U/S 308,25,27 BNS has been registered at Police Station Zirakpur was registered in this regard.

During investigations, information relating to wider conspiracy to target more individuals was received and was probed diligently, said Dr Pragya Jain, while adding that with their arrest at least four target killings of prominent persons in major cities has been averted.

A case FIR No. 159 dated 10-10-2024 had already been registered under sections 103 (1), 126 (2) and 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Kotkapura.
