NEW DELHI;28TH DECEMBER 2024-On Saturday, the Delhi Government organised ‘Mega Parents-Teacher Meetings’ (Mega PTMs) across all its government schools. The event was celebrated with great fervour and saw Chief Minister Atishi join parents at a local school in Kalkaji, her constituency. Speaking at the Mega PTM held at Sarvodaya Co-ed Vidyalaya No. 2, Kalkaji, CM Atishi expressed her delight at the enthusiastic participation of parents, despite the rain. “I am thrilled to see parents actively engaging in this initiative, which began during the tenure of Arvind Kejriwal’s government,” she said.
Highlighting how PTMs were once limited to elite private schools, CM Atishi noted that, over the last 10 years, Mega PTMs have become a regular feature in Delhi Government schools. “I spoke with many parents during the PTM, and they are extremely happy with their children's progress. The students themselves are confident and articulate. When children receive quality education, not only do they and their families move forward, but our country progresses as well,” she said while addressing the large gathering.
CM Atishi observed that students are now “brimming with confidence.” Parents shared with the Chief Minister that their children eagerly get ready for school each morning, reflecting their enthusiasm for learning. “When a child willingly attends school, it’s clear they are receiving quality education,” she remarked to the parents.
*Delhi Government Schools Surpass Even the Best Private Schools*
Speaking about the strides made in education, CM Atishi emphasised that young children are now speaking fluent English. “Parents are thrilled because the kind of education that was once available only in top private schools is now being provided in Delhi Government schools,” she exclaimed.
CM Atishi also praised parents for their increased participation in Mega PTMs, noting that it signifies a growing awareness of their children’s education and future. “Mega PTMs are essential because a child’s progress is not solely the responsibility of one individual. Our children will thrive only when teachers and parents work together to support their education,” she said.
*Appeal to Parents: Be Partners in Your Children’s Education*
Stressing the importance of active parental involvement, CM Atishi appealed to parents to spend time with their children while they study. “Talk to them and make them feel comfortable. Many children hesitate to open up to their parents. I urge all parents to dedicate at least 30 minutes every day to their children, understanding and addressing their concerns,” she said.
During their interaction with the CM at the school, parents expressed immense confidence in the education provided by Delhi Government schools. They highlighted how, over the past few years, not only have school buildings improved, but the learning environment and opportunities for students to excel have also been enhanced.
One parent of a Class 10 student shared, “The teachers here go above and beyond, even helping children after school hours and addressing their difficulties.” Another parent added, “The positive atmosphere in schools has significantly boosted our children’s confidence. Earlier, they hesitated to speak, but now they converse confidently in English.”
Concluding her remarks, CM Atishi said, “The success of Mega PTMs is a result of Arvind Kejriwal’s vision, which has fostered stronger connections between parents and teachers. This collaboration is crucial for ensuring our children receive the best education possible.”
