GOVERNOR LAUNCHES RED CROSS "DOCTOR AAPKE DUAR" SCHEME

MOBILE MEDICAL UNITS FLAGGED OFF TO PROVIDE MEDICAL SERVICES FREE OF COST TO PEOPLE

MMUs INCLUDE DOCTOR, PHARMACIST, NURSE

PATIALA, JALANDHAR, GURDASPUR & BARNALA COVERED IN FIRST PHASE

Chandigarh, January 29:The Hon'ble Governor, Punjab, Administrator, UT Chandigarh and President of Punjab Red Cross Society, Sh. Gulab Chand Kataria today launched the scheme "DOCTOR AAPKE DUAR under the aegis of Punjab Red Cross Society.

In the first Phase, Four fully equipped Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) were flagged off from Punjab Raj Bhawan. These MMUs are fully equipped with all required instruments and have requisite staff viz. Doctor, Pharmacist, Nurse and Driver for each MMU. In the first Phase, the districts of Patiala, Gurdaspur, Barnala and Jalandhar have been allotted these MMUs, in order to provide free Medical Services to the needy at their doorstep.

While dedicating these MMUs to the people of Punjab, the Governor appreciated the efforts of Punjab Red Cross for starting this initiative in Punjab, as well as the REC Foundation for their gesture in the cause of humanity for the purpose of funding this novel project for Punjab Red Cross. The Governor, Punjab said this will be hugely beneficial for the underprivileged sections of the society, especially the pregnant women, who are suffering from various deficiencies during the pregnancy and cannot come to health centres.

These MMUs are given to Punjab State Red Cross Branch under CSR funding by the Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, (REC), a Maharatna Govt. of India Company.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor - K. Siva Prasad, Principal Secretary to Governor - Vivek Pratap Singh, Secretary Punjab Red Cross Mr. Shivdular Singh Dhillon, Sh. Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director, REC were also present.
