CHANDIGARH, 11.02.25-As part of its ongoing commitment to social impact and awareness, Enactus SSBUICET team of Panjab University successfully conducted its 81st Workshop on Menstrual Health & Hygiene under the Mytharche Series for the underprivileged women at the Developing Indigenous Resources-India (DIR-India) building, Nayagaon. Dr. Asha Katoch, the CEO of DIR-India was the resource person for the workshop, who has been spearheading initiatives focused on health, education and self-sustainability in Chandigarh’s urban slums since 2006. During the workshop, Dr. Katoch passionately underscored the necessity of fostering open conversations about menstrual health, asserting that breaking the silence surrounding this topic is key to driving meaningful societal change. She emphasized that widespread awareness plays a critical role in dispelling deep-rooted myths and misconceptions, ultimately fostering a more informed and healthier mind set toward menstruation. Encouraging participants to transition from conventional plastic-based sanitary napkins to cloth-based alternatives, she highlighted their multiple advantages. She explained that these sustainable napkins not only contribute to better personal health by reducing exposure to harmful chemicals but also offer significant environmental benefits by minimizing non-biodegradable waste. By making this shift, individuals can actively contribute to both their own well-being and a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Muskan Sihag, President of the Enactus team, shared that the enthusiasm of nearly 90 participants was truly inspiring. Their curiosity and openness to adopting sustainable practices amplified the impact of our initiatives. Pakhi Negi, Content Head of the Enactus team, mentioned that refreshments were provided and participants received NABL-certified cloth-based sanitary napkins, generously sponsored by Versatile Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., Ludhiana, as part of their CSR project “Amodini.”
Shashwat Pandey, Vice-President of the Enactus team, highlighted that with every session, the Mytharche Series is making a lasting difference, empowering communities with the knowledge and resources to promote menstrual hygiene.
