Ludhiana 19 February, 2025-The 17th Annual Athletic meet of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University was held today on 19th February, 2025. Dr. Parkash Singh Brar, Director Students’ Welfare informed that more than 200 students of constituent and affiliated colleges actively participated in this athletic meet.
S. Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Cabinet Minister, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Food Processing inaugurated the meet. After unfurling the flag, S. Khuddian told that sports activities are very helpful for the holistic and constructive development of personality. He motivated students to take part in any of sports activity for the betterment of their physical and mental health. He also announced a grant of Rs. One lakh for the university. He gave away the prizes to the winners and awards to the achievers.
Dr. Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor said that vet varsity always promotes the spirit of games amongst the students to keep them healthy and in high spirits. He appreciated the various committee members’ efforts in successful conduct of athletic meet and encouraged the participants. The sports torch was lit by senior athletes of the University. The meet started with the oath-taking ceremony by Dr. Alam Brar, Senior athlete of this university. After the inauguration, a march past was performed by the athletes. The overall trophy was won by the College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana. Avneet Singh Brar was declared best athlete male whereas Jaismeen Malhi was best athlete female.
Dr. Parkash Singh Brar shared the annual sports report of the university. Dr Bilawal Singh, the Org. Sec. and Dr. Parteek Singh Dhaliwal, Jt. Org. Sec. informed that on this occasion, the faculty members, staff members and students of the vet varsity were there to buck up the athletes. Senior retiree alumni members, PAU faculty and employees of the varsity also attended the meet to encourage the students. A spectacular horse show by One Pb. R & V Sqn. NCC of vet varsity also added grandeur to the function.
