PGIMER hosts CME Programme on 'Role of Nurse Leaders in Infection Prevention & Control'
The Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, Chandigarh, organized a CME programme on a very important yet rarely discussed topic "Role of Nurse Leaders in Infection Prevention & Control" at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre Auditorium in PGIMER, Chandigarh. The event gathered healthcare professionals and nurse leaders to discuss effective leadership in infection prevention and control (IPC). This event brought together senior nursing professionals from government & private hospitals across tricity region ( Chandigarh, Mohali & Panchkula) in fostering a collaborative environment for exchange of knowledge.
Speaking at the inaugural, Prof. Vipin Koushal Medical Superintendent, and Chairperson Hospital Infection Control Committee PGIMER, Chandigarh mentioned the critical role that nurses have in ensuring patient safety and preventing Hospital Acquired Infections. Prof. Ashok Kumar, Additional Medical Superintendent, PGIMER spoke about how the hand hygiene movement took shape and how it has brought about an increased compliance to the guidelines in the institution. Prof Manisha Biswal, Dept Of Microbiology lauded the efforts of Infection Control Nurses of the institute in bringing down the infection rates.

Best Practices & Innovations: Experts discussed biomedical waste management, infusion-related challenges, and overcoming communication barriers.
Innovations & Crisis Management: Speakers shared global innovations and strategies for handling extraordinary IPC situations.
Panel Discussion: Experts addressed key concerns faced by leaders, moderated by Ms. Rupinder Kaur (ICN, PGIMER).
The programme concluded with key takeaways and a vote of thanks by Dr. Navneet Dhaliwal and Dr. Minal Bhatia. This event provided an excellent opportunity for nurse leaders, hospital administrators, microbiologists and healthcare policymakers to gain a deeper understanding of infection control and the critical leadership role of nurses in improving healthcare standards.

BLOOD DONATION CAMPS
The department of Transfusion Medicine conducted two blood donation camps on 27thFebruary, 2025 under the guidance of Prof. R.R.Sharma One at Baba Shyam Giri Ji Temple village Shyampur, District Mohali under the leadership of Dr.Ekta Paramjit and collected 51 blood units.
Second at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University under the leadership Dr.Aishwarya Sharma and collected 29 blood units. The Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, Chandigarh expresses its sincere gratitude to all its volunteer donors who came forward to donate on the occasion. The donated blood and components help in catering the needs of the critically ill patients in the institute.
