CHANDIGARH, 18.03.25-The Central Placement Cell organised its annual “Industry Academia Meet” on 18th March, 2025 in Law Auditorium, Panjab University, Chandigarh. More than 550 students across 39 departments attended the event. The dignitaries were Mr. Vikas Verma, (Regional Head - North Region UNDP India), Mr. Sachin Gulati, (Head of India Campus Recruitment at American Express), Mr. Rahul Markande, (Zonal Head for Third Party Product Distribution at Yes Bank), Mr. Pawan Wadhawan, (Director & Chief Marketing Officer Sipcon Technologies Pvt Ltd.) and Mr. Deepak Rana (Regional Head, HDFC life).

Mr. Vikas Verma (Regional Head - North Region UNDP India) was the Chief Guest of the event. Dignitaries released poster for “AVSAR” the placement drive of Panjab University to be held on 3rd and 4th April, 2025.

Prof. Meena Sharma (Honorary Director- CPC) formally welcomed the dignitaries and emphasised the relevance of such events in the modern world to connect the students with the industry experts so that the student can upskill and reskill themselves for the ever-changing industry. Mr. Vikas Verma emphasized upon employment trends in green sector and sustainable self-development goals that establishes a future proof career. He also outlined a range of diverse roles specifically tailored to advancing the SDGs and green growth. Mr. Sachin Gulati interacted with students about the performance in an interview and how to get a job. He spoke about the importance of four P’s that are passion, purpose, principles and performance. Mr. Rahul Markande advised students to adapt change and sharpen existing skills for corporates. He also emphasized the importance to never stop chasing your dreams and understand organization’s culture and core values. Mr. Pawan Wadhawan stressed upon high trust values and capabilities with high performance. He highlighted the significance of creating a win-win situation for all stakeholders in the market. Mr. Deepak Rana highlighted the importance of skill set and interest for the job. He spoke about value of problem-solving capabilities. The experts further stressed upon the requirement of having the right attitude and being on the path of continuous learning to excel in the corporate world. They advised students to be self-driven and develop the competency and required skill set to make themselves ready for the industry. Students were briefed about the placement process to be followed in AVSAR the placement drive. Prof. Sarbjeet Singh expressed gratitude and gave a formal vote of thanks to the dignitaries and ended the event by wishing students the best for their future.
