Chandigarh, April 8: A grenade exploded outside the Jalandhar house of Punjab BJP leader and former minister Manoranjan Kalia on Tuesday morning. BJP's Scheduled Caste Morcha state vice-president Paramjit Singh Kainth said that fortunately Kalia was not harmed but the incident has raised concerns over law and order in Punjab. He said that this attack is part of a serious conspiracy.
He said that the incident has spread panic among the general public and created an insecure atmosphere.
Expressing concern over law and order, Sardar Kainth said that grenade attacks on Punjab Police police stations and posts including Punjab Police Intelligence Office in Mohali have raised questions over the government's ability to maintain law and order.
Sardar Kainth stressed that the police administration should be protected from political influence to ensure progress and prosperity in the state. The Punjab government should take strict action against anti-social forces to restore public confidence and security.
BJP leader Paramjit Kainth demanded from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that it is very important to take initiative to protect the police administration from political interference to maintain law and order.
