*River to Be Deepened by Eight Feet to Prevent Flooding in Low-Lying Areas During Monsoon*
*Project to Cover Stretch from Ramgarh Majra to Durana, Executed by Three Separate Agencies*
*Minister Conducts Site Inspection; Issues Directions to Officials*
Chandigarh, November 26 – Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, said that the critical work to remove silt and deepen the Tangri River in Ambala has recommenced today. He said that although the initiative was launched earlier, it faced temporary obstacles. The project has now resumed with renewed momentum. As part of the plan, the riverbed will be deepened by eight feet and an eleven-foot embankment will be constructed to prevent monsoon water from flooding the surrounding low-lying areas.
Sh.Vij visited the Chandpura bridge area in Ambala to review the ongoing desilting works and issued necessary instructions to the officials of the Irrigation Department present at the site.
Highlighting the implementation strategy, the Minister shared that the desilting work has been allotted to three agencies: the first is responsible for the stretch from Ramgarh Majra to the Jagadhri Road Tangri Bridge, the second will operate from Jagadhri Road to Shahpur, and the third will undertake the section from Shahpur to Durana. The first agency has already begun work and the remaining agencies will commence soon, following sample assessments currently underway. The Minister emphasized that the initiative will significantly reduce the destructive effects of future floods. The project is targeted for completion within approximately three months.
*Record Water Levels Yet Minimal Damage This Year*
Sh. Vij said that his efforts led to the Irrigation Department conducting desilting work prior to this year’s monsoon season. Despite a record flow of 43,000 cusecs in the Tangri River during the rains, nearby residential colonies were spared major damage. Now, with the additional deepening of the riverbed and strengthening of the Rampur–Sarsehdi embankment, flood protection in the region will further improve.
Prominent leaders including Jasbir Singh Jassi, Bharat Kochhar, Fakir Chand Saini, Madan Lal, Sanjeev Atri, Gurpal Majra, Ravi Jat, Vikas Chauhan and others were present on the occasion.

Responding to objections raised regarding the flag hoisting at the Ram Temple, Sh. Vij said that “It is a matter of pride for every Indian that the Prime Minister has hoisted the flag at the Ram Temple. Those who claim that a mosque existed there — lies never survive. Babar demolished a temple and built a mosque at that site. I was present when the disputed structure was removed, and I personally saw hundreds of idols of deities being recovered from there. If it was a mosque, then why were idols placed inside it?”
