Chandigarh, August 3: Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij today said that the nomenclature of various nursing posts in the Employees' State Insurance (ESI) Department has been re-designated on the lines of the Health Department. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the proposal. With this decision, nursing personnel serving in the ESI Department will now have designations and professional identity aligned with those of the Health Department.

Vij said that under the revised nomenclature, the designation of Staff Nurse has been changed to Nursing Officer, Nursing Sister to Senior Nursing Officer, Assistant Matron to Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, and Matron to Chief Nursing Officer.

He clarified that the decision is limited to the redesignation of posts and will not impose any additional financial burden on the State Government. The move has been taken to bring uniformity with the Health Department, ensure administrative consistency, and further strengthen the functioning of the ESI Department.

The Labour Minister said that the nursing workforce forms the backbone of healthcare services, and the re- designations will provide nursing professionals with a more dignified and contemporary identity commensurate with their roles and responsibilities. He added that the decision would enhance coordination in departmental functioning and establish greater parity between similar posts across departments.

Vij further recalled that during his tenure as Health Minister of Haryana, he had initiated similar reforms by modernizing the nomenclature of various categories of employees in the Health Department, giving them a more professional and dignified identity. Continuing the same reform-oriented approach, the nomenclature of the ESI nursing cadre has now also been brought in line with that of the Health Department, which, he said, will boost employee morale and further strengthen their professional recognition.

Chandigarh, August 3: Haryana Labour Minister Anil Vij said that the Office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Panchkula, will now be shifted to the SDM Office Complex in Ambala Cantonment. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has accorded his approval to the proposal. He said the decision has been taken keeping in view the convenience of workers, industries and the general public, ensuring that labour department services become more accessible to the people.

Vij said that a large number of industrial units are presently operating in the Saha Industrial Area, the Science Industry Area of Ambala Cantonment, and several other parts of Ambala district. Thousands of workers employed in these industries have to travel to Panchkula to resolve labour-related grievances and complete other official work at the office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner. This not only causes inconvenience but also results in additional expenditure of both time and money for workers.

He further informed that the jurisdiction of the Deputy Labour Commissioner, Panchkula presently covers the offices of the Assistant Labour Commissioners of Ambala, Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar and Panchkula districts. Among these, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar are relatively far from Panchkula, whereas Ambala is geographically more centrally located and is more convenient for all these districts. Moreover, Panchkula is also situated at a reasonable distance from Ambala. Therefore, shifting the office to Ambala Cantonment will provide easier access and more efficient administrative services to workers, industrial establishments and other stakeholders across all four districts.

The Labour Minister said that the decision will particularly benefit workers and industrial managements in Ambala district, who will no longer have to travel unnecessarily to Panchkula for the resolution of labour-related issues. He added that the move will also help ensure faster disposal of labour disputes, more effective implementation of labour laws and greater transparency in departmental functioning.

Vij further clarified that the Office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner is already an existing government-sanctioned office. Therefore, shifting it from Panchkula to Ambala Cantonment will neither require the creation of any new posts nor impose any additional financial burden on the State Government.
