CHANDIGARH, 03.08.26-Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, Chandigarh Red Cross reviewed the expansion of “RED CROSS PANCHI BASERA” recently developed in the premises of Deputy Commissioner Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh. Sh Amandeep Singh, Bhatti, PCS, ADC-cum-Secretary alongwith Punam Malik, Nodal Officer and staff of DC office were also present.

The set up has been developed as an extension to already launched bird welfare programme started from Infosys Red Cross Sarai, PGIMER, Chandigarh with the efforts of Nodal Officer, Chandigarh Red Cross Branch. The Chairman and Secretary, IRCS UT Branch appreciated this unique initiated under the aim to provide safe nesting spaces, food and clean drinking water for birds across the city.

Speaking on the occasion Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, IAS, DC-cum-Chairman, Red Cross stated that with this new installation, the Chandigarh Red Cross continues its commitment and will develop similar bird habitat at Raen Basera, Sector 17, HOSPICE, Sector 43, Chandigarh and other suitable places in the city.

MY Bharat Chandigarh Organises District-Level "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" Competition

Chandigarh, August 3, 2026: MY Bharat Chandigarh, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, successfully organised the District-Level "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat" Competition at Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45, Chandigarh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 200 youth across eight competitive categories, conducted under the nationwide anti-drug campaign.
Sh. Sorabh Kumar Arora, Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration, graced the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, he urged youth to stay away from drugs and inspire others to join the movement for a drug-free India and contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Prof. (Dr.) Neeru Malik, Principal, Dev Samaj College for Women, thanked MY Bharat Chandigarh for providing the institution an opportunity to host the prestigious event and appreciated the initiative to engage youth in the fight against substance abuse.
The competitions were held in eight categories, with district winners qualifying for the State-Level Competition, followed by the National Nasha Mukt Youth Conclave proposed to be held in New Delhi.
On the occasion, Sh. Shivdhan Sharma, UT Director, MY Bharat Chandigarh; Mrs. Rashmeet Kaur, State Director, MY Bharat Punjab; and Sh. Vikram Singh, Assistant Director, MY Bharat felicitated the winners with Certificates of Merit, while all participants received Participation Certificates.
Sh. Vinay Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Chandigarh, informed that Chandigarh is leading the nation in the Nasha Mukti Pledge campaign on the MY Bharat Portal with an outstanding 380% achievement. He congratulated the winners and thanked the management, faculty, volunteers, and students of Dev Samaj College for Women for their wholehearted support in the successful conduct of the event. He also appealed to all citizens to register on MY Bharat Portal, take the Nasha Mukti Pledge and become partners in building a drug-free India.
