Chandigarh, September 18, 2026:As part of Rashtriya POSHAN Maah 2026, the Chandigarh Administration organised a series of nutrition awareness and community participation activities across different areas of the city today, focusing on dietary diversity, adequate protein, safe food practices, maternal health and child development.

A meeting of the Anganwadi Management Committee (AMC) in Circle-52 was organised to strengthen community participation and collective responsibility towards improving nutrition and child development. The meeting discussed nutrition-related issues and various activities being undertaken at Anganwadi Centres.

Under the theme “Dietary Diversity and Adequate Protein,” a demonstration on safe and hygienic food preparation practices was organised at DMC Village. Beneficiaries were sensitised on cleanliness, personal hygiene, safe handling of food and hygienic cooking practices. An ANM also explained the importance of maintaining hygiene during food preparation and providing safe and nutritious meals to children and families.

A Fresh Hot Cooked Meal (HCM) demonstration and nutrition awareness activity was also conducted in Industrial Area, highlighting the importance of providing fresh, nutritious and hygienically prepared meals to children. The activity also focused on the role of balanced diets in supporting the healthy growth and development of children.

An AYUSH and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) awareness camp was organised at Bapudham, where beneficiaries were provided information on health and nutrition, along with the benefits and registration process under PMMVY.

To strengthen digital reporting and improve service delivery, a refresher training on the updated POSHAN Tracker application was conducted for Anganwadi Workers and Area Supervisors at Snehalaya, Maloya.

In addition, awareness activities and home visits were undertaken to sensitise beneficiaries on kitchen gardening, micronutrients, healthy diets, anaemia prevention, ORS, breastfeeding, the first 1,000 days of life and timely immunisation.

The activities under POSHAN Maah 2026 emphasised the importance of nutrition, dietary diversity, adequate protein, hygiene and community participation in improving nutrition outcomes and supporting the healthy development of children and families.
