*Congress Is Frustrated by Continuous Electoral Defeats; Obstructing the Election Commission’s Process Is Not Appropriate: Anil Vij*

Chandigarh, September 26: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that Pakistan should now forget Kashmir and consider returning Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), saying that peace and tranquillity would not prevail there as long as Pakistan continued to raise the Kashmir issue. On the issue of water, Sh. Vij said that India’s water is meant for India’s fields. Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that the Congress is frustrated by its continuous electoral defeats.

Sh. Vij was responding to questions from media persons today.

*Pakistan Should Now Forget Kashmir and Consider Returning PoK: Vij*

Asked about Pakistan once again asserting its claim over Kashmir at the United Nations, Energy Minister Anil Vij advised Pakistan to forget Kashmir. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had elected their government, while the then Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the Instrument of Accession, as had the rulers of the princely states that acceded to India. Sh. Vij said that Pakistan should now forget Kashmir and consider returning the part of Kashmir under its occupation as well. He added that as long as Pakistan continued to raise the Kashmir issue, peace and tranquillity would not prevail there.

*“India’s Water is for Its Fields, Not for Pakistan” -Vij*

Responding to a question about Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement that any move by India to stop Pakistan’s water would amount to an “Act of War”, Sh. Vij said that the water belongs to India and that India would use it for its own agricultural needs. He said that, in his view, the agreements made in the past were not appropriate, and India should give priority to supplying water to its own fields rather than Pakistan. Vij said that “Our fields remain thirsty while water continues to flow to Pakistan — we cannot tolerate this.”

*“Congress Is Frustrated by Its Continuous Electoral Defeats”- Vij*

Asked about the Congress repeatedly protesting against the Chief Election Commissioner and demanding his resignation, Sh. Vij said that the party was frustrated by its continuous electoral defeats. He remarked that a child who fails in school comes home and cries, and alleged that the Congress is losing elections from one state to another, while the BJP is in government in 22 states. Explaining the role of the Election Commission, Sh. Vij said that the electoral process should ensure that the voter rolls contain eligible voters and that ineligible or incorrect entries are removed so that no improper vote can be cast.

He alleged that the opposition is obstructing the work of the Election Commission. Sh. Vij said that if there are any errors, adequate time should be provided to correct them and that the process is already being prepared. He further alleged that the Congress was primarily upset over its electoral defeats, saying, “Haye Amma, Hum Haar Gaye.”
