Chandigarh, September 26, 2026: Acting on a tip-off regarding the wholesale sale and supply of milk and milk products, the Food Safety Administration, Health Department, UT Chandigarh, conducted an early-morning inspection at around 5:30 AM today at the premises of M/s Abhinav Trader, Sector 31, Chandigarh.

The Food Safety team thoroughly inspected the premises and seized six samples of various milk and milk products, including packed low-fat paneer, full-fat paneer, curd and milk. The seized samples sent to the NABL accreditation Food Analyst Laboratory for detailed analysis and examination. Further action will be initiated as per the findings and results of the laboratory analysis.

The Food Safety Administration has appealed to the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the manufacture, sale, or supply of substandard or unsafe milk and milk products to the department. Complaints be registered through the FSSAI Food Safety Connect app, which is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

All hotels, restaurants, dhabas, fast-food outlets and other food business operators advised to clearly inform consumers about the type and quality of paneer being used in their food preparations. This information should be displayed appropriately on the menu and/or at the premises, so that consumers can make informed choices. The direction assumes significance as dairy analogues or products resembling paneer, as well as low-fat paneer, are available in the market and may differ in composition and characteristics from conventional paneer.

All food business operators have further been directed to procure paneer, milk and other food raw materials only from authorised and reliable suppliers and to maintain proper purchase bills/invoices for the food products and raw materials being used in their establishments.

The Food Safety Administration, UT Chandigarh, has planned to intensify inspections and surprise checks in the coming days. These checks will cover suppliers as well as food establishments, including hotels, restaurants, fast-food outlets, dhabas, sweet shops and other food business operators.
