Daljit Singh, AVSM, VSM, PHS, DGAFMS & Sr. Col. Commandant AMC while addressing as the Chief Guest at the momentous 61stFoundation Day celebrations of PGIMER.

PGIMER celebrated a historic milestone, marking its 61st Foundation Day and commemorating the institute’s exceptional service and medical excellence today. The event, held at Bhargava Auditorium, was well attended by former directors, deans & heads including Prof. Dr. O. N. Bhakoo, Prof. Jagat Ram, Prof. D. Behera, Prof. G.D.Puri, key functionaries Sh.Pankaj Rai (Deputy Director Administration), Prof. Vipin Koushal (Medical Superintendent cum Head Dept. of Hospital Administration), Sh. Varun Ahluwalia (Financial Advisor), Heads of the Departments, senior faculty, resident doctors, nursing officers and others from PGIMER fraternity.

Himself being a distinguished alumnus of PGIMER, Lt. Gen. Daljit Singh recounted his own journey at PGIMER in an extremely impassioned tone,as he delved deep into the essential qualities of being a successful clinician, stating, “We must reject selfish and self-centred practices, understanding that true doctor must embody qualities beyond technical skills. Doctors must carry a profound sense of devotion, dedication, and selflessness in the service of their patients, offering not just their expertise, but their entire selves."

Earlier, at the outset, Prof Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER while congratulating PGIMER fraternity on the 61st Foundation Day, said,“Today, PGI stands as a lighthouse of knowledge, transforming from a small institute to an all invasive universal spirit, thanks to the visionary leadership of our forefathers and we feel extremely lucky to be part of this iconic institute, not just as PGItes, but as members of a spirit, a bloodline, and a religion called PGI.”

“From its very inception, PGI's formal teaching has been ahead of any medical institute in India, producing exceptional teachers, outstanding students, and a global alumni network that shines worldwide,” highlighted Director PGIMER while enumerating the institute’s strengths.

Commending the PGIMER team for their diligence and hard work amidst the exponentially growing patient burden, Prof. Lal shared, "Every PGI Karamchari is a Karamyogi. Their dedication keeps this great institute running smoothly despite numerous challenges. This is our Karam Bhumi, where work is worship, embodying the values and commitment that drive PGI's success."

Thirty PGIMER employees were honoured by the esteemed Chief Guest on the occasion, Lt. Gen. Daljit Singh along with Prof. Vivek Lal, Director PGIMER, Prof. R.K.Ratho Dean (Academics) for their outstanding service and were presented appreciation certificates along with mementoes.
