CHANDIGARH,10.07.24-The Chandigarh Chapter of the Indian Society for the Study of Pain hosted a half-day CME session on July 9th, 2024, focusing on "Trends in Pain Management" at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, marking the celebration of ISSP Foundation Day. Prof. Sandhya Y, Head of the Department, inaugurated the CME.

Prof. Sukanya Mitra, President of the Chandigarh Chapter of ISSP, emphasized the crucial contributions of senior doctors in establishing the field of pain medicine in Chandigarh and advancing it to its current status. Dr. Neerja Bharti, Secretary of the Society, welcomed the budding doctors to the CME, underscoring their importance in progressing the field.

Dr. Vipin Kaushal, Medical Superintendent, greeted the delegates. Prof. YK Batra, the Chief Guest, elaborated on the evolving trends in pain management, from acupuncture in the late 1990s to advanced techniques like stem cell therapy available today. The CME featured discussions on current trends in pain management, ultrasound-guided central neuraxial blocks, and interfacial plane blocks. Additionally, a poster presentation addressed sex and gender disparities in pain, highlighting the society's ongoing dedication to comprehensive and inclusive pain education. CME was credited 2 hours by Punjab medical council. More than 50 pain physicians from both govern and private hospitals of the tricity participated in the discussions regarding improvement in the pain management for the suffering of the patients in the society.
