CHANDIGARH, 12.07.24- In another breakthrough a team of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh got a major success by arresting accused Akshay S/o Kanwarpal R/o H. No 304, Phase-I, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 21 yrs, Rahul S/o Late Om Pal R/o H. No 302, Phase-I, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 24 yrs, Sagar S/o Late Om Pal R/o H. No 317, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 20 yrs, Vivek S/o Balesh Kumar R/o H. No 317, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 20 yrs and Santosh S/o Sapan Singh R/o H. No 1130, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 44 yrs. As a result of which recently registered snatching case FIR No. 133 dated 10.07.2024 U/S 340, 3 (5) BNS added 317 (2), 341 (2) BNS of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh, case FIR No. 122 dt 25.06.2024 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC, and case FIR No 134 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC, Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh have been worked out. As per directions of Ms. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, W/SSP/UT, Chandigarh, under the close guidance of Sh. Mridul, W/SP/City Chandigarh and under the supervision of Sh. Jaswinder Singh, SDPO/South a team of officials of Police Station Sector-31, Chandigarh was constituted to solve the snatching cases.

Brief Facts:-

1. A case FIR No 133 dt 10.07.2024 U/s 340, 3 (5) BNS added 317 (2), 341 (2) BNS was registered on the complaint of Pappu Kumar Shah S/o Shatrugan Shan R/o H. No 38, Village-Kajheri, Chandigarh age 23 yrs came present in Beat, Box, Sector-47, Chandigarh and gave a written complaint, in which he mentioned that he is doing a private job in Industrial Area, Phase-II, Chandigarh. On 05.07.2024 at about 02:30PM, while he was coming from Industrial Area to Sector-47 Chandigarh on his cycle and when he reached near Sector-47, Gurudwara Sahib, light point in the meantime two unknown boys came on a motorcycle from his backside and rider of motorcycle snatched his mobile phone make Oppo A-52 along with sim number 9873874097 and they both escaped from the spot.

2. A case FIR No 122 dt 25.06.2024 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC was registered on the complaint of Parkash S/o Deepak Gurung R/o Plot No 26/4, Industrial Area, Phase-II, Chandigarh in which he stated that on 25.06.2024 at about 10.10PM he was coming from Sector-31, Market to his house and when he reached near slip road, Shiv Mandir, Phase-II, Industrial Area, Chandigarh in the meantime two unknown boys came on a motorcycle from back side and stanched his mobile phone (make Vivo T2X, Sky Blue colour and escaped from the spot.

3. A case FIR No 134 dt 10.07.2024 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC, PS-31, UT, Chandigarh was registered on the complaint of Veer Singh Yadav S/o Amar Pal Yadav R/o H. No 1884, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh, in which he mentioned that he is doing private job in Tata Motor, Indl Area, Phase-II, Chandigarh. On 30.06.2024 at about 09:00PM, while he was going to Tribune Chowk, Chandigarh, when he reached near Plot No 703, Indl Area, Phase-II, Chandigarh in the meantime two unknown boys came on a motorcycle and pillion rider snatched his mobile phone make Realme C3, Frozen Blue along with sim number 9889500508 and escaped from the spot.

Arrest of accused:-

In this regard a special team was constituted by SHO-31 consisting of ASI Dharminder Singh 3435/CP, HC Ajmer Singh 1879/CP, HC Rakesh Kumar, Sr Ct Sandeep Singh 6139/CP, Ct Dharmendra 4962, Ct Anil Kumar 3805/CP, Ct Ajay Dev 304/CP, Vol Major Singh 843/CHG of PS-31, Chandigarh to work out the cases. On 10.07.2024, acting upon a secret information, accused Akshay S/o Kanwarpal R/o H. No 304, Phase-I, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 21 yrs and Rahul S/o Late Om Pal R/o H. No 302, Phase-I, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 24 yrs were arrested from Sector-47, C/D Turn, Chandigarh HC Rakesh Kumar in case FIR No 133 dt 10.07.2024 U/s 340, 3 (5) BNS added 317 (2), 341 (2) BNS and snatched mobile phone, Aadhar Card of complainant and motorcycles used in committing the crime has been recovered from their possession. They also tempered the registration number plate of motorcycle. The actual registration no. of this motorcycle was CH01-BZ-0408, but they tempered it as PB2021TR3429B. This motorcycle make Honda Dream Yuga stands registered in the name of Kamlesh W/o Late Om Pal mother accused of Rahul.

On 10.07.2024 accused Sagar S/o Late Om Pal R/o H. No 317, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 20 yrs, Vivek S/o Balesh Kumar R/o H. No 317, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 20 yrs were arrested from Sector-31 A/b Divided Road, Chandigarh by HC Ajmer Singh in case FIR No 122 dt 25.06.2024 U/s 379A, 34 IPC added 411 IPC and snatched mobile phone recovered from the possession of accused Sagar and motorcycle used in crime has been recovered from the possession of accused Vivek. This motorcycle makes Splender bearing registration number CH01BU 7152 stand in the name of Om Pal father of accused Akshay.

During the interrogation accused Sagar and Vivek disclosed that they had committed a snatching near Tribune Chowk on 30.06.2024 and many snatching in the area of tri-city and they have sold the snatched mobile phones a shop keeper a shop keeper namely Santosh S/o Sapan Singh R/o H. No 1130, Phase-II, Ramdarbar, Chandigarh age 44 yrs and he has also been arrested on 10.07.2024 and total 40 snatched /stolen mobile phones from tri-city (approx value Rs 5 lacs) have been recovered from his possession kept in his shop and same were taken into police possession through seizure memo u/s 102 Cr.P.C.

Profile of accused

Today i.e 11.07.2024, all the accused persons will be produced in the Hon’ble Court of Illaqua Magistrate. Further investigation is in progress.
