Of 40 samples taken during checking, 24 samples failed quality test, says Gurmeet Singh Khudian

Agriculture dept sets target of testing 4700 fertiliser samples under Quality Control drive across the state

Chandigarh, July 13:Launching a crackdown against spurious fertilisers to ensure high quality agricultural inputs to the state farmers as per directives of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has cancelled the licences of two fertiliser companies for supplying substandard Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) to the cooperative societies in the state.

The companies of which licences have been cancelled include M/s Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited and M/s Krishna Phoschem Pvt. Ltd.

Revealing this here today in a press communiqué, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian informed that as many as 40 samples were collected from the DAP stocks supplied to MARKFED by these companies. Out of these samples, 24 were found non-standard as per Fertiliser Control Order 1985 and the results of 2 samples is still awaited.

Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, GoI has also been informed about this for further necessary action, he added.

S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian said that the Agriculture department has launched a Quality Control drive across the state and set a target of testing 4700 fertiliser samples during FY 2024-25.

Director Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Jaswant Singh informed that as many as 1004 samples of fertilisers have been collected under the Quality Control campaign and sent to different labs for testing so far.

The Agriculture Minister asked the Director Agriculture to review the supply of agricultural inputs to ensure the quality products to the farmers. The Director informed that the sampling of fertilisers is being done continuously in the districts according to their targets and monitoring is being ensured regarding the arrival of DAP (18:46) and other fertilisers.

S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian directed all the district heads to ensure appropriate action on priority basis if they receive any complaint regarding substandard/spurious fertilisers or any other agricultural products. Negligence at the anyone’s end will not be tolerated at all, he warned.

07 schools of the state named after freedom fighters and martyrs: Harjot Singh Bains

Chandigarh, July 13:In order to honour the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers of the state and to make the future generations aware about these personalities, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government has decided to name 07 government schools of the state after the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers.

Divulging further, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that the state government had decided to rename the state government schools, hence 07 government schools have been renamed .

Bains said that the complying with the orders of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government schools are being renamed after the freedom fighters and martyred soldiers so that our future generations can also be aware of the sacrifices of these personalities.

The Education Minister said that among the government schools which have been renamed, Government Primary School Chhana Gulab Singh of Barnala district has been renamed as Freedom fighter Darbara Singh Government Primary School Chhana Gulab Singh and Government Primary School Jumla Malkan has been renamed as Freedom fighter Labh Singh Government Primary School Jumla Malkan.

Similarly, it has been decided to change the name of Mansa District Government Senior Secondary School Barhe to Freedom fighter Sewa Singh Government Senior Secondary School Barhe and Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Budhlada as Freedom fighter Sham Singh Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Budhlada. .

The Education Minister said that the name of Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School Swaddi Kalan of Ludhiana district is Freedom fighter Bir Singh Government (Girls) Senior Secondary School Swaddi Kalan and Government Primary School Jhordan is named as Shaheed ASI Gurmukh Singh Government Primary school Jhordan.

Harjot Singh Bains said that it has been decided to change the name of School of Eminence Morinda to Shaheed Subedar Mewa Singh School of Eminence Morinda.

NO STAY ON DISMISSAL OF PRESIDENT OF ALL PUNJAB ANGANWADI EMPLOYEES UNION: OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON

— UNION PRESIDENT HARGOBIND KAUR MISLEADING PUBLIC BY ISSUING FALSE STATEMENTS

Chandigarh, July 13-Terming the news regarding stay on the orders of dismissal President of the All Punjab Anganwadi Employees Union Mrs. Hargobind Kaur as false, the official spokesperson of the Department of Social Security, Women and Child Development on Saturday clarified that the former is misleading the public by giving false statements.

The spokesperson said that on July 11, 2024, the All Punjab Anganwadi Employees Union held a dharna in front of the Directorate Office, and keeping in view the law and order situation, department officials met with the union delegation.

During the meeting, the union members presented a memorandum requesting a stay on the dismissal of Mrs. Hargobind Kaur, the spokesperson said, while adding that the officials on the behalf of the department have just assured the union members that their request would be conveyed to higher authorities.

However, Mrs. Hargobind Kaur misrepresented this assurance to the press, falsely claiming that the department had stayed her dismissal.

The spokesperson emphasized that the department only agreed to forward the union's request to the higher authorities and did not make any commitment regarding a stay on her dismissal.
