Mahendergarh, 19.07.24-Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendragarh and Shri Arsh Verma, IPS, Superintendent of Police, District Mahendergarh inaugurated the first 'Miyawaki Forest' of the district at University Campus.

On this occasion, Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar praised the District Forest Department for choosing the University for this project and said that this is the first Miyawaki Forest established in any University of the state. On this occasion, Prof. Sushma Yadav, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University and Shri Rajkumar, District Forest Officer were also present.

Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar expressed his gratitude to all the participants of this event. He said that in future more Miyawaki Forests will be developed on small plots in the University campus. He said that this project will also promote environmental conservation. The Vice Chancellor called upon everyone to plant trees as well as take care of them. Explaining the need for sustainable development, he stressed on the need to avoid the use of plastic and to conserve the environment and water.

On this occasion, Prof. Sushma Yadav appreciated the efforts being made by the district administration for environmental conservation. Congratulating the winning participating students in the competition organized under the campaign 'Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam', she said that collective efforts of all of us are necessary to make our earth green.

Mr. Arsh Verma said that the Miyawaki Forest established by the Forest Department in CUH is a commendable work. He encouraged the students to participate in activities like painting, sports etc. along with studies and appealed to be conscious about the environment. Shri Rajkumar said that Miyawaki Forest has been planted in 2.47 acres of land in the University campus. In this, 37 types of 10,000 different plants including Amla, Neem, Drumstick, Peepal, Jacaranda, Papadi, Sheesham, Siras, Jamun have been planted. He said that the Forest Department will take care of this Miyawaki Forest. He said that in future more Miyawaki Forests will be developed in other areas of the district.

Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Dean Research said that the University is committed to environmental conservation and increasing the green area in the campus. Coordinator of Green Campus Clean Campus Club Prof. Surender Singh said that the forest will not only increase greenery and beauty but will also provide shelter to birds. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Superintendent of Police, District Forest Officer, Sarpanch of Pali village and others also planted trees.

In the event, the winners of the competition organized by the district administration under 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' were also awarded. On this occasion, Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Prof. Bir Pal Singh Yadav, Dr. Jitender, Dr. Manish, forest officials Range Officer Chandergupt, Narender, Sajjan, Krishan, Sh. Rajesh Sharma Jharli, Sarpanch of Pali village Deshraj, students and teachers of various schools were also present.
