SHIMLA-5th November, 2024Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the Chief Minister and SP Offices in Dehra Assembly Constituency of District Kangra and dedicated it to the people of the area.

While interacting with the media, the Chief Minister stated that since the Dehra assembly constituency has been lagging in development, the government is now prioritizing its advancement. He said that the Chief Minister's office has opened in Dehra, where some officers and staff from the Shimla office would now be stationed which would reduce the need for residents to travel to Shimla for their work.

The Chief Minister highlighted various new initiatives to accelerate Dehra’s development. SP offices along with regional offices of the Public Works Department, Jal Shakti Department and Electricity Board have been approved along with necessary staff for the area. To improve healthcare a Critical Care Unit and a BMO office were also being set up at Civil Hospital Dehra.

The Chief Minister said that the state government was working to develop Kangra district as the tourism capital of the state and for the purpose the significant projects were underway in Dehra. A Zoological Park with an estimated cost of Rs. 300 crore was under construction and the government has recently allocated around Rs. 4 crore to enhance water facilities for the park. Additionally, the area near Pong would be developed with tourism point of view and a new hotel would also be built in Dehra to accommodate tourists.

HE said that efforts were also being made to resolve issues faced by the families displaced by the construction of Pong Dam. He emphasized that growth and development of Dehra would support the adjacent Jwalamukhi and Jaswan Paragpur constituencies also. As a big district Kangra was being developed through strategically located offices to connect each area with the development mainstream backed by sufficient funding.

Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the government has approved the construction of a four-lane road from Ranital to Mubarikpur which would enhance connectivity in the area.

The Chief Minister stated that the government was committed to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state by 2027 and a most prosperous state by 2032. Maintaining financial discipline was essential for the future of the state and its youth for which the government was taking firm steps to strengthen the economy of the state to ensure a bright future.

MLA Dehra Kamlesh Thakur, MLA Jawalamukhi Sanjay Ratan, Congress leader Surinder Mankotia, DGP Dr. Atul Verma, Deputy Commissioner Kangra Hemraj Bairwa, SP Dehra Ashok Ratan, SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri and senior officers were present on the occasion.
