CHANDIGARH, 28.04.25-The Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health at PGIMER, Chandigarh, successfully hosted the third edition of its Leadership and Management Training Program for faculty on April 26, 2025. This session centered around an often-overlooked yet vital theme in healthcare“Joy at the Workplace.”
This pioneering initiative is crafted under the visionary leadership of Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, and is conducted under the esteemed mentorship of Prof. Arun K Aggarwal, Head, Department of Community Medicine. The program has been meticulously designed and led by Prof. Sonu Goel, Program Director of the International Public Health Management Development Program, who has trained over 1,400 professionals from 96 countries.
Prof. Goel emphasized that leadership extends beyond decision-making; it involves cultivating happiness and resilience within healthcare teams. “This training aims to empower doctors to manage stress effectively and rediscover joy in their professional lives,” he noted. For the past eight years, this model has been implemented internationally under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Scheme of the Ministry of External Affairs.
The latest session featured interactive modules facilitated by Prof. Goel and Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali. Senior faculty members from a wide array of specialties including Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesia, General Surgery, Psychiatry, and Neonatology actively participated.
