Chandigarh/Khanna, April 28:“Punjab Sikheya Kranti” has begun to deliver tangible results, significantly transforming the educational landscape across the state. The introduction of state-of-the-art laboratories and smart classrooms in government schools has led to a notable increase in student attendance and a surge in new admissions.

MLA and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond inaugurated development works in 32 schools of the Khanna constituency between April 7 and April 19, 2025. These initiatives, undertaken at an investment of approximately Rs 4.37 crore under the “Punjab Sikheya Kranti” program, aim to modernize educational infrastructure and enhance the quality of learning environments. Minister Sond emphasized that even within the first month of implementation, substantial and positive changes are evident. He expressed confidence that the educational standards across all government schools in Punjab would soon witness a remarkable transformation.

On April 17, Sond inaugurated a newly constructed shooting range at Raghvir Singh Freedom Fighter PM Shri Government High School, Amloh Road, Khanna. The five-target shooting range was constructed at a cost of Rs 5 lakh. This facility is the first of its kind in Ludhiana district and only the seventh such facility in a government school across Punjab. Headmaster Balwinder Singh reported that 30 students are currently receiving professional training under the guidance of national shooter Gursimran Singh.

The school has since experienced heightened interest from parents eager to enroll their children, particularly attracted by the newly introduced shooting training. He further highlighted that the establishment of the shooting range, alongside smart classrooms and advanced computer laboratories, has significantly improved overall student attendance.

Across the region, similar positive trends are being observed. The Government High School in Ghungarali Rajputan has recorded a 5% increase in new admissions compared to the previous academic year. Principal Gurdeep Ghai shared that a new science laboratory was established at a cost of Rs 11 lakh, and a boundary wall around the playground was constructed at a cost of Rs 21.50 lakh. Additionally, Rs 1.40 lakh was allocated for the renovation of school washrooms, contributing to a safer and more welcoming environment for students.

Head teachers from other Govt educational institutions, including Government High School Bulepur, Government Primary School No. 9 Khanna, Government Primary School Galwaddi, and Government High Smart School Bhumaddi, lauded the efforts under the “Punjab Sikheya Kranti”. They noted that the smart classrooms and modern laboratories has significantly enhanced student engagement and interest in academics, outcomes that are expected to reflect positively in forthcoming examination results.
