Chandigarh, August 22, 2026:The Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the AYUSH Department, U.T., Chandigarh, successfully concluded a 2 week Yoga Training Workshop for Coaches, with 76 coaches and sports personnel from the Sports Department, Chandigarh Sports Council (CSC), and Khelo India State Centre of Excellence (KISCE) participating in the programme.
Held from August 10 to 22, 2026, at the Table Tennis Hall, Sports Complex, Sector 23, Chandigarh, the workshop focused on promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, concentration and stress management among coaches and sports personnel. It also aimed to equip coaches with practical yoga practices and healthy lifestyle techniques that could be incorporated into the training routines of sportspersons.
The workshop provided hands-on exposure to yogic exercises, asanas, pranayama, relaxation and mindfulness techniques, with emphasis on their role in improving flexibility, balance, concentration, recovery and stress management; key components of a healthy sporting lifestyle.
Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration, Shri Sorabh Kumar Arora, PCS, congratulated the participants on successfully completing the workshop and appreciated their active participation. He emphasised that maintaining physical and mental fitness was essential for coaches, whose demanding responsibilities directly influence the performance and well-being of sportspersons. He also distributed certificates of participation to all 76 participants.
Dr. Mahinder Singh, Joint Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration, and Dr. Bhagwant Singh, IYA, Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, were also present on the occasion.
The successful completion of the workshop marks another step by the Sports Department towards the holistic development and well-being of coaches and sports personnel, with a focus on integrating physical fitness, mental wellness and healthy lifestyle practices into Chandigarh’s sporting ecosystem.
