Chandigarh, 22 August 2026: The Mid-Year Conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society 2026 (MIDCIPS 2026) was inaugurated today by Dr. TSS Rao, President, Indian Psychiatric Society at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh, with the participation of more than 400 psychiatrists and mental health professionals from across India.

Dr. Parmod Kumar, Co-Chairperson of the Conference, informed the delegates that the Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS) plans to submit a proposal to the Central and State Governments seeking suitable changes in public policies and the education system to promote better mental health among young people.

He said that mental health awareness, life skills and emotional resilience should become an important part of education. Such measures can help young people deal with stress and negativity more effectively and encourage positive thinking, healthy behaviour, constructive engagement and responsible citizenship.

The conference provides an important national platform for psychiatrists to share clinical experience, discuss evidence-based approaches and strengthen collaboration in psychiatric care.

On 2nd day of the Conference (23rd August,2026) the discussion on the use of Multiple drugs will be continued.
